New Story Reviews (volunteers welcome!)

Gosh the weeks come fast when you spend most of it flat on your back. It seems to me that just a couple days ago, I was here looking at the list and not finding anything and it was already a week ago.

Here's hoping I find something this time.

Laresa's World Ch. 12: Daniel
Black Tulip
Chain Stories

This is the 12th installment of Laresa I read and like I've said to everyone so far, I'm impressed with the quality of writing. Each chapter gives the readers a bit more insight into Laresa's world and mind and this chapter is no different from the rest.

Laresa is coming into her own even more and she's clearly showing the reader that she isn't just a puppet for her Masters' wishes. She's learning to use their wish to her advantage or at least to make them 'spell out' their wish when they're not to her liking.

Black Tulip's Laresa seems harder, less ready to bow out but I think it has to do with the era she's put Laresa into. The period is a hard one and the Master she got is the most despicable she had so far.

All in all, it's a pleasure to see another chapter out today and with all the wonderful chapters written so far, it's making me wish to see plenty more.

*******

I might come back later one with another one but for now I need to go back to being on my back. :(

Loving Wife? Possibly, though she cheated.

It Was Something In Her Voice by Gary APB
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=282453&page=5

Category: Loving Wives

Review:

This had no certain ending, just a sense of sadness and regret from both parties. I think that it's interesting that the wife was more forgiving than the husband, even though there was nothing to forgive. To me, it illustrates that they simply had different views of how to handle infidelity. They never resolved that, hence more problems. They were not as compatible as they thought. She went twenty-plus years, wrongly thinking that hubby screwed around on her. He found out about her affair with the other guy and decked him. I give it a 5 for drama and realism. Much more story and not a lot of sex.

I also find interesting that the writer has neither the double standard of the "wife can punish, but hubby can't" crowd, nor the other double standard, that goes in the exact opposite direction. Instead, one finds that he accepts that different people have different attitudes. People aren't condemned for getting even or for staying with someone.

A Bit of Parental "Discipline".

My Daughter, My Slave- Ch.05 by Stern Daddy
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=282469

Category: Incest/Taboo

Review:

The excessive severity of the father in dealing with his daughter/slave was a turn-off, but it was still an interesting tale and worth a 5 rating. I look forward to more stories by this author. It had a lot of rough sex, which I liked. I just didn't like how callously he treated her at the end.

New Girl on the block.

First of all I would like to say thank you to S-Des for his help and pointers as I take over the Monday reviews. If I make any mistakes or upset anyone, my apologies in advance.

OK, so here goes:

Gentle Hands

by Talespin

Mature

First up is my favourite story of the day, a beautifully written tale of an older man and younger woman which grabbed my attention from the start and then kept it until the very end.

For a romantic like me, it was a delicious read with absolutely no grammar glitches at all to detract from the story. The sex was erotic, sweet and tender and I loved the whole tone and atmosphere of this submission.

This is the first of Talespin’s stories I’ve read, but it certainly won’t be my last.

My second read was:

The Honeymoon

by steamer5139

Erotic Couplings

This was a wonderfully dreamy tale of love between a man and a woman with lots of flashbacks that added depth to this one page story.

The writing was almost poetical with beautiful evocative descriptions and I could almost feel my blood pressure falling as I read.

Another well-written romantic story that managed to take me away from the stresses of my day.

And last, but by no means least was:

The Bathroom Break

by zand3r

Erotic Couplings

I was impressed with this highly enjoyable fantasy tale of two co-workers indulging in a little oral sex during their break.

A first submission by this author, it’s well written, with an extraordinarily good description of the act itself, in the decidedly ordinary surroundings of the staff bathroom.

The writer skilfully conveyed his initial awkwardness at the situation and there were several humorous lines that made me smile. I’m looking forward to more of this author’s work.

I gave all three submissions a well-deserved "5" vote.

Well, that's all from me today. Happy reading!

I'm a horrible story reviewer so I am going to make this simple and sweet.

Where There Is Only Desire Is an Erotic Couplings story written by a new author and it is very very good.

If your looking for a story with a different twist check it out.

Tuesday's Reviews

Election day! Okay, so I'm late and the polls have closed already... but I'll weigh in now and Monday (or, er... Wednesday) morning quarterback it... :D

Here's what caught my eye in the mix on Tuesday:

Coffeehouse Comfort by new writer dorkybutcute is a sensual lesbian story, a really well-done first effort. I would like to see shorter paragraphs (just for on-screen readability sake! you know how hard it can be to read long paragraphs on Lit! :) ) I was moved by this piece, and who doesn't love a happy ending?

How I Survived the War by CAP811 is a first time tale set during WWII. It was the tone and "voice" of this story that drew me in. This author knows how to create characters and let them speak. I was impressed.

Yomewa Mitsuboshi: The Perfect Bride by Ann Vremont is an unusual sci-fi/fantasy story with an interesting and unsual premise. That first paragraph really drew me in, and I found myself so intrigued that I had to keep reading. This is an author to keep an eye on, folks!

The Consummation by golden smog is a historical piece in Erotic Couplings. I normally avoid them (I read too many historical romances when I was young!) but this was well-written enough to catch my attention and keep my there. Took me back... ah the memories... :) I enjoyed it. Just one thing (and I swear, this isn't "pick on long paragraphs day," but...) I would shorten those paragraphs for Lit-readers!

-----

That's all from me for today... if there are any I missed that you enjoyed, please feel free to mention them! Don't forget to Read, Comment and Vote!

Morning all.

Bed of Rose's - Jos by Joesephus is my first read this morning and what a read. It's in the non-erotic category, and it's a heart tugger. I was very impressed by what he did with this story and his take on the song that it came from. I was asked to join this group, but couldn't. Now I'm just happy I got a chance to read this story. Well written, strong characters that you can't help but feel empathy for, I was engrossed in the story before I reached the second paragraph. Nice job Joesephus, a five from me.

Wolf Man Ch. 06 by DirtyAliceBlack was my next read. God I love this woman's stuff. She's got a way of writing her characters that just make them leap off the page. Not to mention the sex...Hot is the best way to describe it. Kai and Hannah are off on the run, trying to get away from Kai's pack who have found him guilty of a crime he didn't commit. The action is fierce, the sex is fiery and the banter is witty and gritty. I can't wait for the next chapter. Definite five material.

I'm a sucker for Fantasy stories of Knights and their ladies fair and The Wolf and the Raven by darkgoddessnight was a perfect story for me this morning. I'm hoping she has more in store for these two and more chapters in this wonderful story. Well written with just a few of the foibles of a new writer, this author does well with this story. It's only one short Lit page long but very well worth the time it takes to read. A definite five from me and a fervant wish for more please!

That's it for me right now. Have to run. I have two new chapters of my own out today. Beastly Intentions Ch. 05 and Ch. 06. Any comments to be made on any of the reviews I've made can be done at the link on my sigline. Have a wonderful day everyone.

The only story from Wednesday that I felt like...

...reviewing. I am far behind with it, because my weird schedule and such. My apologies, but I wasn't up to reviews when I finally got back home.

Becoming A Slut Husband: Rob by Just Plain Bob
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=283069

Category: Loving Wives

Review:

I wasn't really impressed with the wife's denial or the husband's gullible reaction to it when he finally confronted her. I'm sorry, but if I overheard my SO talking about killing me, I'd naturally think that she meant exactly that. He can't be blamed for it. Still, it was an interesting story, and she more than earned being cheated on by hubby. After all, she came across as nothing but a murderess and gold-digger. I give it a 4 for an interesting idea and motive. I deduct a point for the sheer stupidity of her evident lie to cover up. That and her hypocritical righteous indignation that he suspected her were too much. I agree with those who said that she most likely panicked and changed her mind before it was too late. She covered her tracks and then took offense that he caught her.

I also read his "Becoming A Slut Wife: Tammy", but that one created mixed emotions in me. I guess that I'm in the mood for reading weird tales or something.

I will also note that my good friend Christopher Maxwell wrote a story called "The Larkins", but I won't review it, due to bias. Otherwise, I would. I helped him write it and we both followed the same basic theme, hence the bias.

First Review

My War by leapyearguy

Damn, this was good.

It takes the reader to a place few see, but should.

This story catches all the emotions of those in combat. As well as all they have to go through after that combat is over.

I'm a big fan of military history and fiction, and this was one of the best I have ever read.

Highly recommended. I give it an unreserved five.

Season's Greetings

The Winter Holiday Contest has begun, so I have selected two from the early entries, plus two others, and a Christmas Blast from the Past.

Remember, these are just my opinions. If you want to debate or comment upon them, please use the Comments Thread.

Under the Mistletoe by justboycrazy is in Romance, which was the first problem I had with it, since it is not particularly romantic. It is more of a simple stroke story. If the writer could not find a category, I suggest Erotic Couplings might have been better. The whole story seems rushed, and the overly long paragraphs and use of summarized speech rather than dialogue doesn't help. In addition, first person should not be omniscient ("I was wearing my turquoise lace cami and boy short panties and Kevin thought I was the most beautiful and sensual woman he has ever met.") All of which is a shame, because there are some wonderful details here which allowed me to really picture events, but just as I was warming to the story, it surged ahead abruptly. In the sex scene, there are some great bits, but also overall a lack of enough detail to, I suspect, pay off as a stroker. I love the whole Mistletoe concept as an icebreaker, a way to overcome inhibitions, or a plot device to mix and match characters, which is why I chose this entry, but ultimately, I was disappointed.

Finding Karen by LesLumens is a more typical Romance entry, both in tone and length. It is well written, though in places a tad over styled for my tastes, but that might reflect my overall problem with period fiction. The build up to the sex is logical, and the sex is steamier than most Romance tales, without tipping over the edge. A sweet heart warming holiday tale.

New Writer

An Afternoon with Heather by RossDaniels is in Mature, but might fit better as a Fetish (spanking) story, and, be forewarned, there are incest undertones hinted at, though never explicitly. That gift to provoke the reader's imagination, while allowing each person to decide for themselves how to take the hints, is a demonstration of exquisite talent. Although I found the set up a tad long, once this story got rolling, I rode right along through a taut sex scene brimming with explicit detail. Perhaps we readers should accept the set up though, since it painted characters who I enjoyed, warts and all, enough to want to see more in sequels, I hope.

Failed Attempt to Go Black by Topflight Wife is in Interracial. I selected it because it is an unusual approach to the category, which tends to be dominated by repetitive variations upon the age old "big black cock" theme. This version is funny and sweet, though it lacks dialogue and sex, so ultimately has limited appeal, but is worth reading just for fun.

Blast From the Past

A Christmas Goose by Wyden Long in Erotic Couplings, posted Dec 14, 2002. Wyden Long has always been one of my favourite Lit writers, and I miss his stories (he posted one only in 2004, another in 2005, but overall has over 50). Like all his stories, the dialogue sparkles, the sex is raw and blistering hot, and the spice is sweetened with humour. Wyden shrinks from nothing, and some of his incest and group tales might offend the faint of heart, but if you find this wife swapping/seduction tale offensive, you shouldn't be on Lit. A wonderfully accessible and seasonal way to sample a true erotic talent.

Yes, it's still Saturday, but this story touched a chord in me and I wanted to share. Darkniciad's Christmas Entry Grandfather Yule is a beautifully told short story about the origins of Father Christmas or "Grandfather Yule" as he titles the piece. With only a hint at sex at the end of the tale, this is definitely not for the wankers out there, but it tugs at the heartstrings and leaves a feeling of Christmas when you finish reading it. Well written, as are most of this Author's work, it is only one short Lit page long and well worth the read. Great job, Darkniciad. A definite five from me.

11-12-06

We're starting with a bang today....I laughed so much, my kids were wondering if I had gone insane. :)

LST3K Ep. 03: Who's Stalking Who?
Darkniciad
Humor and Satire

Oh God, what to say about this one? It's so funny, it's probably illegal to laugh as much as I did while reading Dark&Friends' out-takes on this story.
Their comments are to the point, they don't pull punches and some of them are completely unexpected, which adds to the fun.

The reader never knows what they'll come up next and their interpretation is so accurate, you can't help but wonder how they ever manage to do it all without dying of laughter. :D A shame the voting range stops at 5, this one deserved a 25.

Captive Angel
DanielleKitten
Romance

Well, it looks like I'll have to revise the fact that I don't like to read multi-chapter story when they're broken apart. I wasn't done with the first few paragraphs and already I was hooked. DK has a way of hooking up her readers without letting them know beforehand what is gonna happen in the story and this one is no different.

The atmosphere is dark, the characters believable and you can't help but feel for the heroine's predicament. I won't give away the plot of the story as I'm not in the know but I'll say that I'm quite interested in knowing where DK will take this one.

Just like all of her other stories (that I haven't read ;)), this one grabs you from the beginning and refuse to let you go. You can't help but want to know more and wish DK could write faster so you'll know what is gonna happen.

This one seems to me like it's gonna be a hell of a story and it's only testament to Dk's writing that I'll sit in the corner and wait impatiently for the subsequent chapters to appear.

Todays first review will be a Christams holiday story review.

Story title:By the Garters, With Care
Link:http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=284068
Cat:Humor & Satire/ Christmas story
My rating:5
Author:archibael

review:

This a Christams humor story about a single mother who has an unusual incounter with Santa Clause, and what happens to her over the next couple of Christams's because of it. A must read and very funny. Taught me many new versions to Christmas songs.

Dystopian SM

Case #802120 Ch. 03 by slave802120
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=208920

Category: BDSM

Review:

This one got me more than a little excited, I admit. I read it and the other chapters, but this one was my choice for Blast From The Past. It has a clear indication of the slave's acceptance of her lot and enjoyment of her new situation. It is definitely a male Dom's dream story. It's relatively short, but has plenty of sex and fits well with the context of misogynistic dystopia. I urge the reader to look past the chauvinistic aspects to the sheer satisfaction of steamy, sadomasochistic sex.

Monday Reviews.

Before I start, another round of thanks are due to everyone who welcomed me so kindly after my first reviews. Over the past week, it's clear that the Author's Hangout is a warm and caring place to be and I'm proud I'm a member here, albeit a newbie...

Anyway, down to business.

First up is:

"How My Best Friend Became My Lover"

by ewriter

Romance

Perhaps not the most imaginative of titles, but a great saucy romp nonetheless.

Two lifelong friends are thrown together for a bout of passion when their future is suddenly in doubt. A demure academic is transformed into a highly-charged sex kitten with explosive results. The sex scenes were erotic and the feelings of the two characters portrayed with sympathy.

There were a few minor spelling glitches, which pulled me up from time to time, but despite that, it was a well-written story with a satisfying end.

My second read was:

"Tramps Like Us"

by Curse_of_Undeath

First Time

Another enjoyable bitter-sweet story of young love after a disappointment at the Prom. Two misfits are reunited and mutual passion follows. This is the author's second submission and my only gripe was the mention of a bra size (hardly necessary) in this otherwise well-written story.

The writer has hinted at more to come and I'll be looking out for a sequel.

This week I've saved the best until last and my third choice is a submission which proves how good this site can be in terms of quality.

"Run, Run Rudolph"

by RogueLurker

Non-Erotic

A beautiful Winter Holiday Contest story of a young girl who has reached rock bottom but never forgets that there’s hope.

Set on Christmas Eve (and with a character name close to my heart) this extremely well-written story flows smoothly from the melancholic beginning to the warm and satisfying conclusion, never once falling into the trap of being overly sentimental or predictable.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I can only hope that it will be up with a solid chance in the competition. Good Luck!

I think I managed to get everyone's names right this week! Happy reading!

Breaking in to review a lovely story.

The Christmas Dumpster by Decayed Angel

This is a very sweet piece of work, about people who live a life right next to us but are usually invisible. It's short but contains so much.

Well written, it shows that people are people no matter what lives they live.

I gave it an unreserved five.

This is harder than I thought it would be ... kudos to the regular reviewers. I hope I can do the stories proper justice.

An Extraordinary Gift
by celtcdawn

I had no expectations when I opened this story and was pleasantly surprised to find myself drawn into this short piece. The story is bittersweet, but celtcdawn manages both elements well and avoids being too maudlin or too sappy. Although there is mention of a D/s relationship, there no overt sexual content and there really is no need for it ... the emotions and unflagging devotion/love of their relationship is the centerpiece of the story. This is a beautiful love story and definitely belongs in the Romance category.

This is celtcdawn's first posted story on Lit and I will keep my eye out any new submissions she cares to share.

Bed of Rose's
by thecelt

Similar to a chain story, several authors have taken a Statler Brothers' song, Bed of Roses, as an inspiration. Each author has their own take on the song and I suspect the interpretations are quite varied. I'm not familiar with the song, so I'm not sure how much inspiration was taken from it, but this is a great story.

This is a well written and engaging coming of age story that I enjoyed reading. thecelt has an easy writing style that is laid-back but kept my interest in the character, Richard Wallace, a tough kid living a tough life who gets a break. I may even have to check out thecelt's submissions in the Loving Wives section.

On the Bus: Double Jeopardy
by SelenaKittyn

Okay ... here's one with sex.
Settle back and enjoy the ride ... SelenaKittyn spins a well-written, short but torrid tale of brother sister on an overnight bus to California. I quite enjoyed the interaction between the two of them, with the geeky brother spouting off little known facts that he's memorized for his Jeopardy try out. As for the sex ... well, all I can say is how nobody on the bus woke up I'll never understand :)

Talk About Steamy!

Wash My Back? by themarquise
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=283936

Category: Erotic Couplings

Review:

This story broke a number of grammatical rules, particularly switching tenses and not using enough punctuation. There was also a shortage of dialogue. However, the intensity of the literally steamy shower sex more than compensates for these typical amateur mistakes. The actual penetration is an awesome scene, but it follows so much stimulation that it is almost an anti-climax (almost being the operative word here). I give it a 5.

Sultry Sapphic Seventies Sex

Charlie's Angels: The Little Angel by suckandfuck
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=283852

Category: Celebrities

Review:

This was one hell of a story, especially for anyone who has ever watched Charlie's Angels. The idea of the Angels having such carnal pleasure with each other is, well..."sinfully" delicious. I loved the seduction scene and the lead-up to a probable threesome (all-girl, no less). I give it a 5. Definitely a first-rate Celeb story.

Good Morning. I'm starting late due to a bad night.

A Karmic Incest by AMasterFound was my first read this morning. I don't usually read the incest story but the title grabbed my attention. Then the plotline nabbed me and I couldn't stop reading. I love the occult and this storyline screams magic and witchcraft as well as some hot sex. I'm very much looking forward to more. A five from me.

I guess this is my day for stories I normally wouldn't read. I started reading Bean Counter Ch. 04 when the first chapter came out because I saw the comments in the feedback portal. Creamer, the author of this provocative piece, has quite the imagination. The story could easily have gone into the loving wives category. Very well written, interesting story premise, but like some of the other commentors I've got to wonder how he is going to wrap this story up. Still, it gave me a giggle because I always liked to see the wronged spouse, be they the husband or wife, get a littleof their own back. Nicely done, I gave it a five.

Mixed Messages Ch. 01 by SelenaKittyn caught my eye next. Once more Selena has come up with a premise sure to please, filled it with hot sex and left us wanting to know more at the end. I don't think there is a category that she can't write. A definite five from me and a question. When does chapter two come out?

My Blast from the Past was picked deliberately due to the season and to the fact that this lady was my idol. Her writing is exquisite, her stories always interesting, fast paced and her characters seemed so alive, almost as if you could touch them. She was always kind, always willing to lend a hand, always there if you needed her. My pick for today is Twas the Night Before... by Colleen Thomas.

I always thought this story should have won the holiday contest last year. It was funny, more so than others that I've laughed at, interesting and sexy as hell. Colleen was a writer like no other and I'm glad she's left behind this legacy for us to enjoy. Well done, lady. I gave it a five the first time I read it, I'd give it another if I could. :rose:

First Review

I tried, folks. I really tried. Went through the New Stories deliberately overlooking my fellow AHers. I really wanted to find work worth reviewing by people outside our little clique.

Sigh. I failed. Only one didn't make me back click fairly quickly.

That one was The Elixer of Life by Phrenetic_Ice.

I'll admit to liking Mind Control stories. The idea that you could get laid without all the usual trouble is enticing. That you can make it that your partner is really into it, even more so.

But this story didn't do it for me.

Yes, it was well written. Yes, it had pretty hot sex.

But I didn't get attached to any of the characters in the story. None appealed to me. And the incest angle turned me right off.

I also found, and this is unusual for me, that the writing itself was a distraction. I like rich language but too often in this story the action was buried under the prose.

So I did finish the story, and it had its good points, but it just didn't do it for me.

I gave it a four.
