Room 756 of St. Stevens Boarding School
Jay Green
I walked through the hallways of the school, near-empty because everyone was in class already. I peered at my reflection in the reflective window of the administrative offices and deliberately skewed my tie and untucked my shirt. I was trying to see if that hot secretary was in the office when something large bounced off me.
A guy, looking lost. He was kind of smallish, and I was suprised he hadn't just fallen over from walking into me. I picked him up and brushed him off. "Hey, sup, new here?" I asked. He replied in the affirmative. I saw he was holding a piece of paper so I took it from him, examining it. "You got English with me. I'm Jay, by the way, Jay Green." He introduced himself as Joey Kennedy.
"Let's go to class, yeah." I said, leading the way. We got to the class late and slipped into seats at the back.
It was a new teacher. He was taking attendance, and noticed us coming in late. "And your names are...?" he trailed off pointedly, leaving us to answer the question. He looked none too happy that we were late.
"Jay Green." I replied, adding with a sardonic smile and big hand gestures, "And I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience of my tardiness to your entirely too-boring classroom and for any interruption of your undoubtedly long-winded introduction speech. And your name is...?"
He didn't reply, just turned to Joey, who introduced himself as well. I muttered under my breath, "Dumbass..." at the teacher. I saw that on the board was written something, half of which was hidden by the teacher's head. It read: MR. DA.... I went along with that, saying louder, "Hey Mr. Dumbass, or DA for short, what're we learning this time around? Another long-dead guy who wrote some crap?" Joey, beside me, laughed at that.
He answered frankly, "Yes. And it's Mr. Davis. The two of you, stay after class and see me please."
I could see he was trying to keep his cool, which I was having fun provoking. "Yeah whatever, dumbass." I replied, slouching down in my seat.
