Okay, so I have nearly three weeks off coming up. No public professional performances and I'm thinking of playing with my hair color. No one has seen my natural color in I dunno, 20+ years? My current color is kinda honey blond and I LIKE it a lot. All I do is use Sun In when it starts to get dull looking to me, easy peasy.

My husband prefers dark hair.

My daughter sees me as a red head.

I like purple.

So any suggestions on the best way to do this and get it back to my current norm all in three weeks?

Thanks,

Fury :rose:

There are non permanent hair dyes that come out after like 10 washes. Not sure what the big question is here. Just don't use a permanent dye.

I'm just wondering the best way to do this. Dark back to light or what. Also the best products to use.

I find temporary ones useless though, they barely make any difference to my hair colour. Last thing I got done was a deep purple (I have dark brown hair) which then faded to red. Could get two in one there. I got it done in the hairdressers though so I don't know what brand or anything

can you post a picture so I/we can see your hair before doing it? It helps knowing what you look like and what the texture and hair type is as well as skin tone and eye color.

alright. unfortuantly you cant really do this in 3 weeks, its more of a 3 month process. red hair is generaly an okay color depending on what shade of red you get (orange-cherry-crimson-blood) often its easy to wash out with a lot of washing, also leaves little staining.

Purple is a bitch. dying your hair purple is extreamly vibrent and takes along time to wash out, also, it will have a tendency to rub off on things you put your hair against if your hair is wet, when you wash your hair it will slowly wash out, but it will permently taint the hair (that it died) a purplish/redish color depending on what mix set you use... also most modern purple hair dyes leave unwashable purple stains in bathtubs... my sister died her hair purple.... 10 years ago... and the bath tub still has a purple ring of when she first washed her hair.

anything Darker, (black dark brown) is fairly perminent. black is a bitch to wash out and rarely fades, dark browns also are hard to wash out.

with any darker color you need to let your hair naturaly grow back in order to have it the orginal color.

the Best way to do it in the 3 weeks is
1 get a ton of money.- and TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR HAIR COLOR
2 go to a GOOD hair salon and have them Profeionaly dye your hair 1 color.
3 when the week is up have them professionaly die it another color.
4 when you need to go back to work or what ever, have them professionaly die it back to the orginal - this is where the picture comes in.

I can post a picture that shows my hair but since I perform in public and have to maintain a proper image for that, I will blur out my face.

Let me know what you think.

Since I'm not into spending tons of money? I won't be doing that but I do appreciate your advice. I may not be able to do much after all!

Are you even serious??

Actually, you can have what is called a 'filler' put in your hair. It's actually nothing but color pigment. Either brown, gold, or red to fill in the blond in your hair.Depending on the color you're wishing to put back. Then color from there. The 'filler' is very harmless to your hair as it can be applied with a very low volume developer. It's needed to fill what the "Sun In" took out. It fills in the porous spots in the hair shaft.

Now.... depending on exactly what shade you really want...I'm betting you'd look absolutely wonderous as an auburn or chocolate brown with copper highlights. Reds are easiest and quickest to wash away as the color molecule is the largest and hardest to stay under the hair shaft. That's why reds always fade the fastest. But he was right about one thing. The darker you go..say...dark dark brown, the color does become harder to get rid of as the color molecule of the black is the smallest and easiest to deposit and stays the longest. Purple, depending on what shade... burgundy mixed with a pretty brown is good... will be somewhere along the line of a red... but will last a little longer because you have a darker pigment mixed in.
BUT you must get that 'filler' put on the blond first. If you don't.... the color will wash out of the blond leaving you with a not so goodlooking hue of what was put on your hair... maybe a coppery orange. And we don't want that!

And another thing... any color will leave some residue on say pillow cases, collars, towels if the excess is not rinsed out completely. Albeit the residue will be minor. And there is a possibility you will see this the first three shampoos. But there shouldn't be ANY after that.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

She's like that, many days.

My two cents is that you're giving it too MUCH thought. It's just hair. Do it,
see what happens, decide afterwards if it was a mistake, but remember
that it's NO BIG DEAL. It's just hair.

Oh I know it's just hair. My hair is one of the few things on the outside I really like though! LOL.

Monday I had my husband pick out his "dream woman's" hair color. That was a sort of brownish red. *shrugs* I would have gone much more red with red, like a pure sex liquid wave kinda thing if I could manage it but I wanted to be his "dream girl." *grins*

Today I got purple just for me. First we did the tips, my girl and I. Then I went higher. We shall see how it goes. When it dries, I'll know if I like it.

My idea was to change my hair color every week of my time off but since he picked such a dark color, I either will get another or stick with his as long as I can stand it.

well with all the girls that have dyed their hair infront of me or had me help, i personaly dont like dying hair myself, (i cant stand that smell for one) but, with my expernece in trying to dye and dye hair repeatably in a short amount of time is that after the third one it will leave a 'perminent' off collor dinged to the hair. which cant be removed unless if the hair grows out and is cut.

as for washing, yeah all dyes will leave an off set dingey collor on anything your hair touches, and while washing if you dont wash the bath tub it can leave a dyed collor ring around the bottem. i know most 'natural' collors will stop doing this with in 3-4 washes. but ive seen problems with people with blue and purple where it didnt stop untill the die was full out of the hair. (she had a purple neck for a month... really funny :) ) im sure it was probly the crappy dye she used but just forewarning.

thats why i say professional because usualy those things wont leave discolloration in anything and the effects are near exactly what you want. and none of this wash out discolloration, purple turning to red, red turning to copper orange that stuff.

Well I'm really loving this purple on gold today! It makes me smile!

Thanks 5pintshefound!

Actually next week I'm doing the red/brown my husband wanted for a week or two. Then I will try to get back to my normal fake color before work, in 3-4 weeks.

*crosses fingers*

hehe fury, glad you like the colors... lol, reading about you dying your hair, made me get up and redo my roots... red hair is so much better when there arent brown roots attached to it ;)im seriously thinking before i move to cuba, about bleaching it blonde and then going red
id liket o be really really red lol... anyway.. gl, with the colors.. oh, and a side note.. make sure you get a relaly good deep conditioner to put on... make sure you get an at least 3 minute one.. or if your really energetic, theres of course, the cholestorol treatments -- anyway.. gl.. keep us informed!

Hi Noor!

Good ideas! I've never gotten good enough info about kool aid or jello coloring. I wish I could find out more about it.

The temp spray in stuff leaves color on upholstery and feel stiff in my hair. I like my hair to be soft and touchable.

Today I am going all Medium Auburn that is my husband's dream color, it seems. Sounds and looks boring to me. I'm about to shower now. I'll post a pic later. I hate losing the purple and gold but I love pleasing him when possible.
