Ok, so Ive been a member of lit since 2001. I've been posting for about 5-6 months now. There are some threads that I will respond to and some I won't. There are some users I feel a little 'intimidated by' as well. I can't quite explain why I feel this way. Maybe it's because I feel new and don't know a whole lotta people on here quite yet.

Any other newbs feel this way?

Of course, this doesn't stop me from posting, apparently!

Intimidated? never.

If I make a thread will you respond to it?

You've been here since 2001 and feel like a newb? You've got status - flaunt it.

I hope I never intimidate anyone...I'm not sure that's possible...

If I were intimidated by anyone on this board, I wouldn't have the post count that I do.

Nah, I don't feel like that at all. I kept reading about how big and bad everyone here is, but I see now that it was just a load of crap. Most people posting here are very nice and welcoming, and the self-proclaimed "baddies" are just blowing hot air. I've yet to see anyone get eaten alive here, no matter how obnoxious of a poster they are.

I've been here since 2000. I don't feel intimidated by anyone anymore.

Being new anywhere (on the net or in real life) can be a bit intimidating till you get a feel for a place or make a few friends or acquaintances.

You hit the nail on the head there, Debbie. Thank you.

everybody scares me.
I got my post count up by typing in even numbers over on the Playground.

But she really doesn't. It's all about post count. Which is insane, if you have something to say, say it. Are the post you make or the threads you start of value? I have a real life, family, house, job. It takes me a year to make 1000 posts. I read alot and post when I have something to say, not to impress anyone. Most don't like me or don't know me but hey. Everyone has to admit there are posts/threads we could do without.

Usually my threads are of little, if any value. I like to think of the GB as some sort of tech 'survival of the fittest' - only the strong survive. There are a few thread that always resurface, but for the most part the weak shit is ka-put within an hour or so.

When I read a person's post or thread I don't look at the post count or what their sign up date is.

It's their words I'm reading and interested in.

I'm not sure if that's a slam or support.

Perhaps I am using this thread mini-rant of mine as a metaphor for whats going on in my life. I'm going thru major changes and feeling a bit unsure of myself at the moment.

Underlining "get a feel for the place". Most of the newbies who run into problems here do so because they don't make any effort to absorb Lit culture, if I can use a possibly self-contradicting phrase. There's a reason Brinnie is on everyone's ignore list and no one flames Equinoxe or Snasu or Hester. Don't be an asshole and you won't get intimidated; simple as that.

Try speaking to those that you feel intimidated by. I'm not saying that you need to tell them that you feel that way. Just drop a post in one of their threads or respond to one of their posts, and I bet that you will find that they aren't nearly as intimidating as you thought, once they respond. If they ignore your post, then just assume that you were too witty or intelligent for them to think of anything to respond with.

Some people here will never have anything nice to say to you, but they usually have nothing nice to say to anyone. It's comical, really.
