I am sitting here in the waiting room at my daughter's dance school listening to a group of teenage girls talking about boys, text messaging, school and clothes. They almost seem to have a brain cell or two among all of to share.

I am not looking forward to my daughter reaching this stage. Is there something that happens to make them all clueless to reality when they hit their teens?

I am so bored, I need an adult to talk to!!!

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but between the ages of 10 and 24, not only do they lack brains, they also lack good judgement, respect, positive attitudes, fashion sense, willingness to communicate and common sense.

:D

some of them retain their brains, really they do.
Or my daughter might be a late bloomer. she's almost 16 and she's more level headed than I am.

My 4 kids were really good teenagers, too. I don't think I could've asked for better kids.

They're more difficult now that they're in their 20s.

In high school a lot of kids sadly go with the Mob Mentality.

Its scary and sad.

I truly believe they just act stupid cause they think it's cool to do so?

I was almost offended by this.

Then I realized I was a fiercely independent child, teenager and young adult.

I hope my daughters turn out to be somewhat like me...or I may eat them.

I do see that in some of them, they act one way around the group but completely different when the group is not together.

My daughter is 8 so there is still hope for her for a year or two.

I know. I was almost offended when writing it. Having raised 4 kids and having been around their age group alot, much of what I wrote is semi-true. Certainly, there are exceptions, like my kids, but lots of teenagers act like idiots. :)

It happens when you give into them asking for a cellphone at a young age and allow them to have texting on their plans.

They shouldn't have a cell phone till they're old enough to be responsible. I mean my 16 year old little sister has broken 4 cell phones due to carelessness and hardly talks to my parents. She just isolates in her room and talks to friends.

I don't have any but just today I was amazed at how idiotic kids are.

For the third time in about a year, teens decided to jump out in front of my car as I was driving down the street.

They evidently think it is funny to scare the shit out of drivers by doing this. I don't really understand their logic. One or two will dart out into traffic as their friends stand on the curb laughing.

Are they trying to get hit? Trying to terrorize old farts like me or what?

Whatever happened to prank calling? Or toilet papering a tree? Or playing hooky from school?

I remember where you're from, and the conversation about high schoolers sexual behavior. Has anything changed?

we used to hide in the bushes at a neighborhood intersection and when I car would pull in I'd throw a hub cap out behind their car. They would here it bounce on the pavement stop and get out....I would then run out and grab the hub cap and yell, "Hey!! Didja lose a hub cap?" they would automatically say "Yes!" then I'd take off running :D They would sometimes chase me for a block or two before they would go back and count their hub caps :D

My son hitting puberty hit me by surprise
then I remembered my teen years
I've decided when his sisters hit puberty
I'll be prepared .... they will move out or I will

Just leave a few military academy or wilderness camp pamplets laying around. It worked for our youngest.

I agree.

My friend keeps trying to talk me into teaching.

Once I said, "Is Capital Punishment still illegal in schools?"

"You mean Corporal Punishment," she responded.

"No. Capital."

Clearly my temper makes me unsuitable. :)

Also, you should be commended for raising four well-adjusted kids. Humanity thanks you!
