That's right Ollie, we can't know what we don't know. So let's deal with what we do know.

1. No weapons charges were filed.

2. He and his family have been there for over 80 years.

3. She's the noob passing judgment and using the national press to do so. (A resource not at his disposal.)

4. Yup Ollie, the odds of your children meeting a pedophile in the country is WAY higher than in urban areas. (Jesus Ollie, that was really grasping at straws.)

You really are looking at this as a political blunder, aren't you? It's way more than that Ollie. It goes right to the core of freedom. She revealed her true feelings. Now, you can agree with that or not as is your want. But what she revealed to me is a profound lack of understanding of this nation or the variety of peoples that inhabit it. She exhibited what can only be termed as a regal attitude towards her neighbors. Go rent "Braveheart" again.

She's a bitch. She's out of touch with reality and where reality and her desires collide, you better not be in the way.

Do you HONESTLY believe it possible for a couple with a 28,000-square-foot estate on 102 wooded acres (that includes an indoor basketball court) to be "IN TOUCH" with the Common Voter?
 
I thought the Edwards were supposed to be worried about the two Americas. But it seems they don't like that other America when it impinges on their own mansion. Here's this guy whose family has had this property for 80 years or more and now he can't afford the taxes to keep his family property. I'm sure the Edwards will be happy to know that they'll be losing their "slummy" neighbor when some rich guy snaps up the property. Then they won't have to worry about having to look at someone from the "other America" living next door.

UPDATE: I see that Elizabeth Edwards, or someone purporting to be her, has posted a response in the comments section explaining why she doesn't like the guy waving a gun at Duke Power workers and denying that the guy is poor. If this is indeed from the Edwards campaign I suspect that they have realized that her calling a guy next door a "rabid, rabid Republican" and criticizing him for having a "slummy" property didn't play too well next to their "all about the little guy" pose.
 
I'd like to see House Beautiful do a splash out on the 28,000 sqft house. Really. Let's all see how THEY live.

I bet she cleans her own bathrooms.

Trying to be 'logical' here? I mean Ollie has already invoked the fear of pedophelia for the Edwards. That has nothing to do with the indoor basketball court.

Then agian, if the kids are always indoors shooting hoops, what do they have to fear from the rabid neighbor?

I really think this is curtains for the Edwards campaign. The Men in Pajamas are going to have a field day with it. Too many flags raised by the Edwards showing their true colors.

I have to agree. There might be two americas, but they're definately out of touch with the america that can't afford a $6 mill house on 102 acres. Her pronounment is right up there with. "Let them eat cake."

I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, but it does make you wonder whether it was just a publicity ploy, which is sad to wonder.

They lost me at 28,000 square feet.

Eight thousand square feet would be a LOT, but TWENTY-eight thousand square feet is a fucking hotel or boarding school. Tell me what four people (they only have 2 kids, right?) need with 28,000 sq feet. They should adopt some orphans or something.

And you sound like someone who has never spent much time around rural folk and doesn't understand that carrying a rifle out in the county is an accepted practice...not one that makes one "rabid." Country folk respect weapons and teach their children to respect them as the powerful things they are-- not play with them, or pretend with them.

(I wonder if there is any research to show that the majority of children injured with guns happens in urban settings?)

Country folk also have expectations of manners and neighborly courtesies that include such things as oh....asking permission before trespassing on someone's property...that sort of thing.

Interlopers, investigators, let's call them what they were Ollie. Trespassers that failed to check in with the property owner. OK? Just common courtesy Ollie, that's all.

The bottom line is that the Edwards are guilty of behaving like Brits who come over here, drive on the left, and then blame us for not being 'civiliized.'

It's obvious that they want 'one america.' One that conforms to their ideal of america. The wealthy and all us other 'good niggers' that keep things neat and comfortable for them. It's a European viewpoint Ollie. Aristocracy.

Let me ask you something Ollie. Do you know what vehicle the average American millionaire drives?

One can use any word they want. To 'brandish' implies a threat and that is a felony. Where's the charges?
