I agree. A lot of story ideas offered up by people who visit this board are a lot more specific then just an overall idea. I think it would be interesting to take on something with a few more "rules."
 
The theme "Be Careful What You Wish For" seems too general for the original intent of the challenge...

If I understand it correctly, the original intent was to have many authors write the same story, to see how many different versions we could come up with?

It would seem to me that we wouldn't just need the same theme, we would also need the same premise, whatever we decide that is.

For example (just a "for example" from this board!): woman forced to give handjobs to strangers...

I still say we brainstorm as many ideas as we can, decide on a top 5 and put them in a poll, so we can vote on them...

we're not all going to agree... but the idea is to challenge ourselves, right? :)

So let's brainstorm... just situations, is what I'm thinking... we can add our own twists and details, then...


Couple gets lost in the woods.

Two women meet on a train going cross country.

Librarian helps young college student find research.

Mechanic gives woman an estimate on her car repair.


what else??
 
Some of the popular ideas thus far:

Sex with a stranger/giving hand jobs to a stranger (forced?).

Characters coming to life.

A story involving humiliation.
 
All good posts so far. :) Does anyone else want to offer up ideas, etc? I'm very open when it comes to writing, so I can leave special details to others. ;)

By Monday we'll have some kind of poll ready.
 
Narrowing the premise within a generalized theme is a great idea and sounds like it would be more interesting. It would be more like writing the same story -- only different.

With a broader theme, the story premises could vary widely. I think it would be more fun to read and compare stories with the same theme AND premise.

With that in mind, here's a smaller focus on my initial suggestions with the "Be Careful What You Ask For" theme:

-- A young couple wins a contest they entered for a free vacation to the mysterious Island of Elysium. Dreams (and nightmares?) come true.

-- A straitlaced wife with a sheltered background would like to be more outgoing and confident, but can't break free from her upbringing. Her husband seizes the opportunity to transform her into the woman she (and he) wants to be.

-- A compliant male convinces his girlfriend/wife to be more aggressive in bed. She and, eventually, her girlfriends, make him regret it.

-- Frat boy always wanted an inside look at a sorority party so he sneaks in and hides during a sorority sleepover. Was he ever sorry!

I'd love to get started on one of these, or any other theme that is eventually decided on.

Just send me a theme, and I'll write. This weekend I've been taken away, so to speak, from the world of erotica. I've been asked to create a series of short stories, all themed on the word ROGUE...If this works out, I'll be paid LOL
 
Interesting idea, Alias. Out of this one, I'd say I like the fortune cookie best. Maybe the message could be changed slightly, though off hand I'm not sure what else it would say. :)

Has anyone taken a peek at Sexual Conditioning? Though I know my version would differ from the thread starter's, I love the over all idea of a woman awakening to find herself bound and in a dark room. (Dungeon?)

Forgive me if anyone here listed BDSM as a hard limit. I don't remember if anyone has or not! :eek: At any rate, this tale would not have to be hard core BDSM, depending on the author.

Or what about Directing/Instruction from either gender's point of view. An audio submission where we, as the author, are telling the reader "what to do to us/themselves". ;)

Or, Dorthy in Oz? If you stay clear of Judy Garland it's not a celeb/fan fic. It's simply our take on a fairytale like Ann Rice did with Beauty. ;)

OR FOR THAT MATTER, what about a classic fairytale? Disney doesn't own them! They just remake 'em all! lol

I like the "Sexual Conditioning" idea - however, maybe not with quite all those details. Maybe, woman wakes up bound, and unsure how she had arrived there, and each author takes it from there?

Or, how about, a combination of "becareful what you wish for" and "sexual conditioning" - Main character starts off wishing something before they go to bed, and wake up to whatever it was they wished for - but with a twist?

By the way, you could do a loving version of D/s if we did the "woman wakes up bound in the dark" theme. Between couples, D/s is quite loving. :)

Now that's cool! :) A fun way to mix two people's requests! ;)

The "wish" could go more ways than one. Could be like Freaky Friday where the mom and daughter wished the other knew how hard their life was (or whatever), or Big where Tom Hanks makes a wish at a mechainical fortune teller game...or Geinie, shooting star, birthday candles, yada yada...

And the tale wouldn't have to be actual BDSM with bondage, in case an author doesn't like that.

Basically, woman wakes up to find herself bound in a dark room. The requester went on to suggest, though while bound, she is cared for by a man or woman who feeds her, etc. The requester also mentions that she was unable to control her bladder and wets herself. She awakes the next day to find herself cleaned up, in new clothes, with a new sheet...

So, my suggestion for that idea was simply the woman waking up in some unknown area. Here's where different minds will come into play. Is she in a "traditioinal" type of dungeon? A castle's real dungeon in modern day? A windowless room that even has a bed to make her more comfy? Yada yada.

I also suggested that the tale would not have to have hardcore bondage in it. Those who live this lifestyle should know that D/s can have a very "romantic" and loving side to it.



And so far, it sounds like we're going to mix the "be careful what you wish for" into the woman's predicament somehow. :)
 
So can we do a poll? (not sure how to set one up?)

I know we have a lot of ideas... maybe we can do a few poll threads (I think you can only fit five options in one thread?) and then we can take the top ones from those and do a final vote? (Kind of like the "flash fiction" contest was run)...
 
Sexual Conditioning sounds like a great plan. That has my complete support, particularly with the Be Careful what you wished for tacked on.
 
Okay, I'm not sure how to set up an "official" poll on a thread that's already active and moving. Anyone else know how?

I didn't plan on yesterday and today being very busy days for me!! :eek: Gotta go back to work tonight! I'm off tomorrow, so I'll poke around more to see if I can make a poll. Otherwise I'll just write up our ideas in a post and we'll do a NON official poll. :)



If anyone else knows how to do one in a current thread, please feel free to post it!
 
I think it had to be started as its own unique thread... so we can just start the "Unique Idea Poll" thread...
 
I read the FAQ on creating a poll and it seems fairly straightforward . . . If you can't get it going tomorrow, I can give it a shot . . . All I'd need is the topics you want to post (five I think) and the period of time to allow voting . . . and yes, it has to be a new thread apparently.
