An unique idea...

Or at least a theme we've never worked with. I know that several of us have been in the Survivor contest at least once and so finding an untouched category, specially one we all have might be impossible.

The Living Charachters story idea is kind of (In my opinion though it can and has been interpreted differently) is writing a story like that episode of Looney Toons where Bugs Bunny is talking to the artist and the artist keeps drawing Bugs into really absurd situations and Bugs keeps telling him that the story isn't very funny or creative.

Perhaps an idea we've all never touched, or an opening sentence or a charachter that the story has to focus around. I like the idea of pushing the limits and finding something we are all evenish on. Not to mention I wouldn't want to tackle any of you in your particular strong field, particularly not this first time out.

The Wife Humiliation could be interesting.

I support Be Careful what you Wish for. That is where my current vote goes for because it seems to be so wide in its scope.

Maybe we should try finding an idea that none of us have ever done before. Or somehow randomly come up with an idea so that we are all, or mostly off gaurd by the subject. I know that a some of my best stories have been those silly contests that you had to to start off your first paragraph with a particular sentence.

This might be a good idea. It'll depend, for the most part, on what hard limits everyone has.

I hope it's OK to join the writing contest . . . It'll be fun to see how people take the same story and make it different.

I hesitate to be the first to list incest as a hard limit, but I have to . . . Otherwise, the hard limits already mentioned are mine as well.

Of the topics recently listed, Sex with a Stranger seems to have the most possibilities, especially the "stranger" the stranger is.

Living characters? . . . Are you referring to celebs?

Some other ideas, if I might be so presumptuous:

-- Wild weekend on the (fictional) Island of . . .

-- Couple is entertainment at erotic party

-- Women use a compliant male for their fun and games

-- Humiliation of wife at the hands of her husband

-- (Generalized) Be careful what you ask for.

Monique

Don't worry about being the first to list incest as a hard limit. I asked the authors of Lit what their limits were for a specific reason. I didn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable or to feel like they couldn't participate because we had too many set rules or something. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. :)

The beauty of some of the more broad topics listed in this board is we could easily have different categories for the "same" story based on each author's perspective of the tale!

As for the "living characters", check out this thread for a better understanding!! (Basically, the story requester was looking for stories where a character "comes to life", "can talk to its creator", etc.)

By the way, you have offered up some interesting ideas as well for a potential theme!!! :) I think, no later than this upcoming Monday, we will try to vote on our favorite idea that has been listed within this thread. Whichever idea has the most votes we'll work on!

Okay... Maybe this is too bold...? BUT, should we choose Be Careful What You Wish For as a generic theme for our stories? I'd say, it would be author's choice if they want to use this as their actual title as well. (Upon many searches for titles on Lit, I have seen the same title used more than once by different authors. Sometimes, the two, or three, or whatever tales were all in the same category even!)

Yay? Ney? I think it does allow for everyone's imagination to go wherever they want. :) Since this is the first "challenge" of its kind, maybe we should make it a little "easier" for all authors involved? And then if we ever do something like this again we could have a more specific theme?

Also a P.S.

I'm willing to write in any Lit category with a very small exception of "Immunities" I have used for the Survivor Contest: Non Erotic and Humor & Satire.

I meant it as a generic theme. Perhaps we should demand that that phrase be worked into the story somehow. Title, a phrase. Just something to make them conform to a certain rule. I was just trying to show my support for an idea. I know that occasionally I'm full of criticism but little constructive.

Well, I personally love the phrase Be Careful What You Wish For! I agree (if everyone agrees on this as our theme!) that it should be required in the text of the story, if not the title. :)

We'll see what others think!

I'd be willing to give that a shot, but I do so very much hate trite phrases and sayings. So, I'd probably prefer something else.

How bout we meet halfway. You don't have to work it in (cus it is kinda trite) but it should be the over all theme of the story.

Looking forward to narrowing down the theme.

The "Be Careful . . . " title IS trite, but I haven't had much luck reworking it. So far I have:

Regrets Only

Fantasy Unfulfilled

Out of Control

Wishful Thinking was a Disaster

If Only I'd been More Careful

Good Intentions

Good Intentions Gone Bad

Bad Intentions Gone Worse

It's a poor lot, I guess, but it's late and the synapses aren't all firing.

BTW, I also like the wife humiliation or the compliant male theme, but, to be any good, both would have to veer from the usual plot lines you see in the stories on the boards.

It all sounds interesting. I'll go along with the consensus . . . which I guess makes me a compliant female.

Scat
Water Sports
Violence against Children
Racial Discord
Politics (even the most casual remark can lose you readers and gain you detractors)
Celebrities (yawn)
Snuff stories
Philosophical wallowing
Bestiality (At least not on Literotica)
Fantasy (big yawn)
Metaphysical wallowing
Wallowing in general (I like spread my depravity over a wide range of situations and topics)
I may think of some others later, but I will or have written about just about everything else that I can think of at the moment.

Love those nipples!!!!!

If the title isn't important and it is the theme we are sticking with I would suggest sticking with the Be careful what you wish for. I was already kinda brainstorming an Erotic version of Bedazzled (not that it wasn't semi-erotic to begin with) and the good intentions gone bad wouldn't really be the same theme. I think we currently seem to be on the same page right now as far as a theme goes.

And damn Hyu has some interesting hard limits. I never thought an author would refuse to write about politics. Not that I would have ever suggested we should.

If anyone has some other ideas, I personally haven't fallen in love with any of them yet, and would be interested to hear more. :)

I'm with Hallowed Eve on her hard limits list. I'll add a few of my own. I don't do cuckold (unless the cuckold somehow gets revenge). I will do cheating stories at times, but I prefer to make the cheaters pay at some point (with a few exceptions). Castration or other permanent bodily harm is a no-no. Chemical castration is also a no-no. And I don't do stories where Victorian morality is preached or reinforced in some way. I might satirize it, but I won't advocate it. I also refuse to do celeb stories about celebrities that I detest (Diane Keaton, for instance). And while I might do some femdom now and then, I can't bring myself to write stories where women control men as a sex (you know, where they enslave the entire male sex).

Wow, do we have a count of how many authors we have participating?

And Eve, are you keeping a count of suggested ideas to create a poll with later?

This is turning out to be massive. :D

I'm definitely in. I don't have any hard limits to add beyond those listed by others.

I'm hoping we "harden" the criteria slightly, though not too much....

Well, offer your four cents. ;) Pull up some more "ideas" from other threads (or your mind).

I think in addition to a theme, we should have a few criteria, just not sure whatand I just got interrupted here
