Long-term chastity wear, what nobody tells you (plus a guide that finally does)

I've been in this lifestyle for a few years now and one thing that's always frustrated me is how surface-level most chastity content is. "Buy this cage, lock up, enjoy." Great. But what happens on day four when you wake up with swelling you didn't expect? Or when the chastity cage that fit perfectly during your sizing session becomes a problem by day three of actual wear?

I recently came across a proper long-term wear guide over at chastitycages.co that actually addresses this stuff in a way I haven't seen compiled anywhere else before. Sharing it here because I think a lot of people on this forum would genuinely find it useful, especially if you're pushing past the 48-hour mark or gearing up for something like Locktober.

Some things it covers that I thought were worth highlighting:

Material really matters long-term. Most people pick based on aesthetics or price, but silicone, bio-resin, and stainless steel all behave very differently once you're past day one. The guide breaks down the wear profile of each — and the answer isn't what I expected.

Duration guidance by experience level. Not just "beginners do 24 hours," but actual honest breakdowns for where you are in your journey. This is the part I wish I'd had when I started.

Warning signs — the "adjust" ones vs the "remove now" ones. This alone makes the guide worth reading. There's a big difference between normal adjustment discomfort and something that needs immediate attention, and most beginner resources blur that line.

Community voices. Real accounts from wearers about what they'd tell themselves before starting. This section hit differently.

Full guide is here if you want the deep dive: https://chastitycages.co/blogs/the-chastity-blog/best-long-term-wear-chastity-cage

Curious what this community's experience has been with long-term wear. What's your personal threshold before things get uncomfortable? Any tips you'd add that aren't in mainstream guides?

Interesting. Do people really go from buying a cage and starting locktober the next day? We took a month as a getting use to it period. Came up with schedule that had soft (no pun intended) goals.

That's actually the smart way to do it, and honestly more people should hear that. Did you build your schedule yourselves or follow something you found online?

Soooo... Advertising then?
Fair call-out. It's a resource I found useful enough to share, but yeah, it's from a brand's blog,

Fair call-out. It's a resource I found useful enough to share, but yeah, it's from a brand's blog, take it with that in mind. The content itself holds up though, especially the warning signs section. If you've got other sources you'd recommend on long-term wear, I'm genuinely curious.

I’m on day 13 of my current lock up. My wife and I started this about 4 months ago. I have two inverted cages that I wear, but around day 12 of wearing them I have this indescribable angst that builds up and affects my focus. We bought one that is more traditional to get me through those days and so far it has worked well. I’m on day 5 of being constantly locked. I haven’t taken it off at all since Saturday morning and I’ve experienced no discomfort. I’ll likely take it off this weekend to get a good shave and inspect everything, but right now I feel like I can wear this for the foreseeable future with no issues. We’ll see.
