The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

TS Imelda looks like she’s going to head out to sea so all the finger crossing worked. It’s been raining on and off so we’ll get that all day, but honestly we needed it. No rain in almost 40 days.

Hope everyone has a great start to the week. We wont mention the M word.

@Wonderer67 , so sorry for your loss my friend. Prayers out to y’all. What did your friend fly if I may ask?

We have a another week of official Oktoberfest…the MZ will reflect:

I love Oktoberfest. The beer and brats are so good.

We are in a mild to moderate drought as well. No rain expected until next Monday. Around here, when it comes it usually comes hard.

I threw them out underneath my bedroom window this weekend. No skunks there but they a stink all around the garage. Why?
We have a couple (or one very voracious) skunk digging grubs in the yard. Lots of little holes where they're tearing up the grass.

I don't mind that so much, but when old dog doesn't recognize the difference between a "striped kitty" and "regular kitty" and tries to chase it down... We'll just say I'm not a fan of the work involved after that. Especially when it's at 4am...

Although, to their credit they did an amazing job of turning over all of the mulch in the flower garden in the front yard. They must have rooted around there all night, it looks amazing. And all of the mulch is still in the garden! 🤣

FYI:
How to use lemon peels to deter skunks:
  1. Save peels: Keep leftover lemon (or orange) peels after you've used the fruit.

  2. Scatter: Place the peels around the perimeter of your yard, near garden beds, or close to potential den areas, such as under decks or porches.

  3. Replace regularly: The citrus scent will eventually fade, so you'll need to replace the peels every few days or after heavy rain to keep the smell strong enough to be effective.

Have to agree.

Compost is good!

The st000pidest plumber I have ever known - and I have known a few - said once that the nastiest kitchen drains he ever had the displeasure to see were downstream of a disposal. He thereby proved for Eternity that even a blind squirrel can find a nut on occasion.

Safe travels!! Safe work week.

Man, I had the damnedest day. Everyone was delighted to see me. I was first to the job. It was raining, rained all day. The siding guys were trying but gave up. The wire butchers hung in there working on outside lifting. We had a pleasant talk. I had to go to the box store. I went to the gas station I had gone to for weeks while working on the other job. The clerk asks, "where have you been???" I told her, and we chatted a bit. The store was fine. The problem calls were fine. Had a good chat with property management. We got some nice compliments from the residents. One of the residents hit on me, kinda jokingly. Stopped at the grocery store for a couple of things and saw the gas station clerk, who hugged me. The landlady is feeling poorly, but her girlcats were welcoming. The boy was his usually standoffish self. At least he was consistent.

I wonder what was in this morning's coffee . . . .

I’d like some new stuff to try. I mostly spend time getting texture and level of doneness right on the grill. I have 3. A gas and 18” Weber on my deck outside the kitchen and a 22” underneath. I use those year round and have them undercover so I and they stay out of the rain while in use. I make great tomato gravy but the secret is in the sausage I found at this one store all the way into Arlington.

Trying to lose weight I kept hearing older people say the secret to long life is eating more beans. Turns out they are more carb than protein. I have found an endless supply of 3 bean dressings to make from ChatGPT. Other flavors and brine methods there too. Even some interesting things to try with the sous vide.

Wonderer gave us all a wonderful tomato sauce recipe here awhile back. I made a couple of adjustments, but they were/are quite minor.

LOsing weight seems to be finding a way to eat less.

How's your feeling better soon L2
My body likes to hibernate during system repairs  Some wild dreams later and the nausea is gone. Thank goodness!! Now to get my brain to give me sex dreams instead of snake dreams  🐍
Do lemon rinds help with Raccoons as well?
I'm sure the Trash Pandas find them delightful 🤌
