The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Morning everyone! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Worked long and hard. Was going to bed early but left the teevee on and magically found the Texas A&M v/s Auburn game. Well…got so wrapped up in that 4th overtime battle, got to bed a wee bit late. Then, realized that the Las Vegas Gran Prix was happn’n and further realized that I was on the right channel for that! It didn’t start till midnight!😳…bridge too far. Looked like a good race but I was riding with the sandman by then!

Everyone have a great Sunday. Get your rest in mind, body, and spirit. Your MZ:

I was bummed that Indiana, army and Rutgers all lost.

Yesterday, I was splitting firewood. There’s something very relaxing about the productive nature work like this. I try to find beauty in everything around me, esp in nature. Sometimes I’m amazed at the wood grains I see. Here are a few examples.

This was from a maple tree we had taken down that was dying. I’ve never seen maple with so much beautiful wood grain. It looks more like black, walnut, but black walnut is usually much more solid brown color. Who knows??

Beautiful...
Good Morning sir!

Totally mesmerizing

Take the grapefruit, they cost a bundle here.
I love grapefruit and will eat..... but I needed the oranges and missing strawberries for a fruit tray. Me and my merry band of la sertomans (service organization) is feeding the teachers at the elementary school down the street Monday during parent teacher conferences.... so now I have to go to the grocery store anyway.... ugh

Yeah, that was not a very thoughtful swap of 2 oranges for 737729366 grapefruit.

Here some more. Pretty sure it’s maple. The woodgrain ripples at the top and the bottom, give it away. But what kind of maple??

A friend of mine on the plants and gardening thread thought it was a diseased maple.

Anyway, thought I’d share some of nature’s beauty with you all.
It's Maple. I've seen older trees turn color like that. Sugar maple can have pretty thin layers of sap wood, you're looking at the colored heart wood. The yellow areas are probably pretty soft (rotting), the brown areas are probably still solid. Probably near it's end of life.

I like colored and highly figured wood. Better than boring straight grain.
