Yesterday was filled with many emotions. My gift was my granddaughter clinging to me as I carried her into daycare, brunch with my GF and dinner with my son. The sadness came as I learned my brother in law of 57 years (like a brother) is fading from kidney failure. I am hoping he makes it to his dialysis on Wednesday. My sister needs to vent to me. Friends continue to vent to me about their problems.

It gets lonely as I am dealing with my own health issues (possible prostate cancer). I really miss my wife in these times.

Being the recipient of venting (the ventee) can be tough. But it makes it even tough since you’re so close to your brother-in-law. Hugs brother. 🫂

We are always here for you if you ever need to express anything, brother.

Yes I was, but the in between kind. Warrant. I went in as an E3 in basic, then upon graduation they promoted our class to E5 due to regulations on flight crews and pay. I was an E5 for a whopping 2 or 3 days, that was how long it took to get from Ft Jackson to Ft Rucker 😂 then became a W.O.C. For the next year, but remained E5 for pay purposes going through WOC school even though we weren’t Sgts…clear as mud? Pinned on W1 bars then wings next day. We like to say we went through Rucker when real men and women were Warrant Officer Candidates!

We secretly wished we could have had it like they do now. WOC school is 9 or 10 weeks then they pin on their bars. So they go through flight school as officers and not candidates. Pay is better obviously, but they can’t abuse them like they did us.

Our running joke was a general would ask for some men to break big rocks into small rocks…the captain would say, “we’ve got some new privates”, the general would retort, “Privates! We can’t spare them…go get some Warrant Officer Candidates!” 🤣

And on that note…I give you a Harrier Hawk MZ!

Oh, and here’s a snappy salute right back at cha @Wonderer67! I have all the respect in the wold for the Tanker bubbas. I heard stories about having to fix those damn things after throwing tracks and all kinds of things that made me shake my head!

I did get to drive a Bradley once though! That thing was cool.

I failed to give everyone a hardy “good day” also….let me correct that lapse in judgement! Hope everyone has a great Tues!
