The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I’m exactly the opposite. I like it light longer. I like to get up early.

I hate having to wrap up working outside early this time of year. Then when I get inside, it feels like it’s time for dinner, and it’s only 5.

Plus sometimes I get that sad - seasonal effective disorder. I def do not like the shorter days.

Not a fan.
I'm light sensitive but understand SAD. F*** the bozos! Split the difference - from here on out top of the hour is 30 past. so there!

In Thursday I had a refit with the VA for my CPAP. I got a new mask (I’m a side sleeper and I couldn’t maintain a seal in my other mask). Right now, 3 nights into it, I seem to be better. However, I haven’t been at work in front my monitors all day. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. The other factor is my previous optometrist screwed up my prescription for my glasses, now I have a new pair from a different eye doc and glasses lab. They see to have helped a bit as well. Maybe it’s just baby steps, finding all the interrelated issues instead of one major issue.
You could very well be on to something. A lot of little things can add up to one great big thing. Regardless of root cause, I really hope you find relief soon!

Spent the evening fixing the laundry sink faucet. Drove the 12 miles to the hardware store, which happened to have a replacement cartridge. Get it in, and it leaks! 🤬

Took the old one, which didn't turn on, apart and greased it with silicone grease. Good as new! So good, that I took the other valve apart and greased it too...

Why are we buried with substandard import crap. Clearly the replacement was bad out of the box!

Just ordered a tube of food grade silicone grease for the other faucets (for this one, just used the grease on hand. Automotive grade). I guess 7 years is all you get out of a new house before stuff starts falling apart.
I can't even! 😡

Oh, I know all too well. We bought higher end fixtures, yet these are still failing.

One toilet flapper started leaking this week too. Ordered a replacement for that.

Freezer circulation fan died. Igniter on the dryer. Well pump (wire shorted to case 3 times. Bad wire, but COVID supply bottleneck meant no replacement wire), finally the pump this summer. I keep a spare well pump ($1800), and controller ($350) on hand. Put the spare in, and ordered replacement. Heat pump control board, bad design (I did a failure analysis on that one. Parts running out of spec.). And the water heater flammable vapor safety sensor.

Can't wait to see what is next!

(I sound old and crotchety, don't I? 🤔)
Classic definition of a handyman if you ask me!
What's your going rate?
And can you travel??

It's funny I found out that well pumps life expectancy is 7 years. That's nothing compared to my parents had one for 32.

My mom has a hand mixer that they got for their wedding 58 years ago. My dad takes it apart and cleans it and grease is all the parts every couple years and as good as new. They also have a 50-year-old stand up freezer. Had to be careful careful closing the door so it doesn't pop open cuz of the seal, works like a charm freezes stuff solid. It doesn't even have self defrost when it gets sort of close to being empty we move the stuff into the small freezer and unplug it to defrost it

Oh, and I forgot the best one! One of the water line PEX fittings cracked and started leaking. Luckily it was in the basement, and not one in the wall upstairs.

Bought all the tools and crimp rings to replace that. I'm sure it's only matter of time.

I know the plumber who did the work, and he's been doing this for a long time. He said he's never seen one fail before.
It's probably my ongoing feud with Murphy...

You forgot to mention they have a wonderful daughter that gets frustrated with them sometimes
But they did such a wonderful job she has become a loving, compassionate woman that would protect them with everything she could. 😘🤗💋

They should do 30 years. I will admit this one did survive several good lightning hits, so it was a matter of time. I keep a spare, because there is a 3 to 4 week lead time on a replacement.

Upside of living on top the hill, ZERO chance of getting flooded. Down side, high probability of lightning. 🌩️

Ours got goosed by lightning several years ago. Hit a tree in our yard, and guessing the arc travelled to the adjacent well head and fried it.

Was actually covered by my homeowners!

I have done a fair amount of backing trailers and done some damage in the process. The longer the trailer it seems the easier to control the position. A short trailer will turn on a dime and makes it difficult to control.
I've heard that. Just haven't tested it. My neighbor across the street owns a trucking company. I'm going to ask him to teach me how to back my trailer.
