Thats right! Packard made the famous Merlin engine! Wow!!Yep. Fuck DST - it saves nothing. Shoulda been metric, but if you own old cars, you still need SAE wrenches/spanners an' sich. That's just how it is.
So, when Packard was building Merlin engines, I wonder if they used metric fasteners or SAE? Not really wonder wonder, but it popped up in my brain.
Made a casserole It's cooling.
That sounds good too! First to Michigan for soup, then to Thor’s for osso bucco!Making a veggie bean barley soup for dinner. It’s cool out and perfect for soup.

But everyone was doing flatheads back then. Ford flatheads were THE hotrod and racing engine post war.Rolls Royce design, and Packard built them under license. Henry Ford wanted a shot at that and pissed RR off. Packard also made PT boat engines. Dual overhead cam V-12s. Boats got three each.
What I have always wondered is, Packard made those high-tech engines all war and came back out in late 1945 with . . . flatheads. Seems to me that they should a could a had an OHV V-8 ready by 1948, 1949 at the latest. But noooooooooooooooooo. Ten years later, the doors were locked and the name was defunct.
