I used to love to build with ash. Such a pretty wood! It was so expensive though

There is an ash blight brought on by an invasive insect, the emerald ash borer. Almost all ash trees in the NE and Midwest are dead or dying.

It’s estimated that there are 48 million dead ash trees in NJ alone. The upside is that it’s amazing firewood. And plentiful.

I double checked the sticker to make sure. It was a Braeburn apple. Pretty sure that's a very popular type of apple. But maybe not so much for slice and eat? I'll try a Fuji but otherwise stick with Granny Smith.

I tried a Cosmic and loved it. Firm, crisp, not too sweet... but had a little itching in my mouth. It's maybe not the apple for me??

Happy Sunday!!! Slept okay. Cats are fed and won't get me a coffee refill, just like the tiny heathens that they are. That and no opposable thumbs. The shooping list is mostly made. Looks like less stuff this week. There's the usual laundry to do. It's going to be a busy week at work next week because my coworker is on vacation, so all the problems will be humping my leg. Oh well.

Names/words are hard for me to hold onto. I can remember patterns equations and numbers but words elude me. I saw a meme one time that summed up my brain with words. I'll see if I can find it

We had horses on the farm when I was very young. Wife had never ridden though, so for her 50th we went on a trail ride to a winery in VA. I had a nice quarter horse and after the ride, he kept nudging me. I’m thinking I still got it…horse whisperer and all…I had forgotten the cabin we stayed in gave us one of those string backpack type things with some snacks in it. Yeah, he smelled the apple!

Reminiscent of Dutch Elm but for Ash trees.
So many lost
As my assoc has had to remove trees, we've tried to replant with a more diverse variety of trees. We've also been lucky to have some consults w/ local university to help review best varieties for location and need (shade, thirsty trees, etc.)
