I was trying to give an easy out. Do what you need to do. However....

When starting with whiskey, add just enough water, good water for good whiskey, so you can drink it. Reduce the water each time, and you will soon find yourself drinking it neat, sooner than you will believe. Neat is best, maybe a drop to open it up.
