Kamala Harris Gets Good Sign in Swing States, New Poll Shows

Voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin were surveyed for a Bloomberg News and Morning Consultant poll between July 24 and 28 on who they would vote for between Harris and Trump if the 2024 election were held today. Across all seven states, which included responses from 4,972 voters, Harris held a 1-point lead, beating Trump 48 percent to 47 percent.

The results are within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 1 percent point, meaning that a hypothetical matchup between Harris and Trump is still a tossup in the critical battleground states. But Tuesday's results are an improvement for Democrats. In a Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll conducted at the beginning of July, then-Democratic presumptive nominee President Joe Biden trailed Trump by 2 percentage points on average across the seven states.

Harris was also found on Tuesday to be beating Trump in Arizona (49 percent to 47 percent), Michigan (53 percent to 42 percent), Nevada (47 percent to 45 percent), and Wisconsin (49 percent to 47 percent). Trump was still up by 4 percentage points in Pennsylvania (50 percent to 46 percent), and the candidates were tied in Georgia at 47 percent.
