I learned the concept of Pay It Forward a few decades ago, and it is, to me, the most worthwhile approach I have ever practiced. Having Some Boundaries is also important, but practicing that as gently as possible requires lots of repetitions. Sometimes, my best boundary is to walk away.

I’m a huge Robert Heinlein fan (Stranger in a Strange World, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress) and he was an advocate of pay it forward. I’m not as good at this as I should be, but I’m a work in progress as we all are.

I haven't read any of his stuff. Maybe I should. Paying It Forward is the bomb, though.

I never heard of it till just after I got outta the army. It’s a cool concept.

Early on in my life I was a little lost and having a bad time of things. I had a boss who became a mentor for me. Now I am trying to be a mentor for the kid who leases space on my farm. He is a super kid, but struggling with life and what to do with it.

That is just so wonderful. So many kids don't gave mentors and if we want a decent society it is up to us to fill this role.

I am gonna work and at 2 going to salon for some self care..... trying to be a little kinder to myself.... lawn looks great... the flower beds look awful. I have called several places and no one calls back or comes.... I am not able to do right now and need help.... guess I will go and do inches at a time...... will get done eventually

Too bad you weren’t local. Mrs wonderer is a gardener and could make the flower beds look great pretty quickly.

Or she’d just send her lackey (me) to do the hard work!

It may even be less work than you think. What needs to be done?
