project 2025... brown shirts and black boots

What is Project 2025?

It’s a blueprint for what a second Trump administration could look like, dreamed up by his allies and former aides.

That’s the aim behind Project 2025, a comprehensive plan by former and likely future leaders of a Trump administration to remake America in a conservative mold while dramatically expanding presidential power and allowing Trump to use it to go after his critics.

It’s a blueprint for a second Trump administration

The centerpiece is a 900-page plan that calls for extreme policies on nearly every aspect of Americans’ lives, from mass deportations, to politicizing the federal government in a way that would give Trump control over the Justice Department, to cutting entire federal agencies, to infusing Christian nationalism into every facet of government policy by calling for a ban on pornography and promoting policies that encourage “marriage, work, motherhood, fatherhood, and nuclear families.”

Project 2025 calls for abortion limits, slashing climate change and LGBTQ health care funding, and much more

A few of the highlights:
  • Remake the federal workforce to be political: Instead of nonpartisan civil servants implementing policies on everything from health to education and climate, the executive branch would be filled with Trump loyalists.
  • Cut the Department of Education: Project 2025 would make extensive changes to public schooling, cutting longtime low-income and early education federal programs like Head Start, for example, and even the entire Department of Education.
  • Give Trump power to investigate his opponents: Project 2025 would move the Justice Department, and all of its law enforcement arms like the FBI, directly under presidential control. It calls for a “top-to-bottom overhaul” of the FBI and go over its investigations with a fine-toothed comb to nix any the president doesn’t like. This would dramatically weaken the independence of federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Make reproductive care, particularly abortion pills, harder to get: It doesn’t specifically call for a national abortion ban, but abortion is one of the most-discussed topics in the plan, with proposals throughout encouraging the next president “to lead the nation in restoring a culture of life in America again.” It would do this by prosecuting anyone mailing abortion pills (“Abortion pills pose the single greatest threat to unborn children in a post-Roe world,” the plan says). It would raise the threat of criminalizing those who provide abortion care by using the government to track miscarriage, stillbirths and abortions, make it harder to get emergency contraceptive care covered by insurance, and it would end federal government protections for members of the military and their families to get abortion care.
  • Crack down on even legal immigration: It would create a new “border patrol and immigration agency” to resurrect Trump’s border wall, build camps to detain children and families at the border and send out the military to deport millions of people who are already in the country illegally (including dreamers) — a deportation effort so big that it could put a major dent in the U.S. economy.
  • Slash climate change protections: Project 2025 calls for getting rid of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which forecasts weather and tracks climate change, describing it as “one of the main drivers of the climate change alarm industry.”
  • Ban transgender people from the military and consider reinstating the draft: “Gender dysphoria is incompatible with the demands of military service,” it reads. The author of this part of the plan led the Defense Department at the end of Trump’s presidency, and he told The Washington Post that the government should seriously consider mandatory military service.

I found this interesting, but not surprising.

Plurality of Americans with Little Knowledge of Project 2025

44% of Americans have either never heard of or are unsure what to think of Project 2025, a proposed blueprint for governing spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation which includes significant changes to the Executive Branch of government. 41% have an unfavorable opinion of Project 2025, and 15% have a favorable view of the plan.

Of note, 62% of Trump supporters have either never heard of or are unsure about Project 2025. 66% of Biden backers have a negative opinion of the plan.

A LOT of Americans don’t really start following the election ISSUES closely until the election actually approaches - that is why “October Surprises” are so damaging.

Americans WILL be exposed to “Project 2025”, etc, and the vast differences between the two parties more and more as the election approaches.

President Biden is more on the ball than "some people" when he correctly points out that the election hasn’t really started yet.

If Democrats stop pissing themselves and start hammering Trump and the GOP on “Project 2025”, etc, while simultaneously having President Biden’s back so he doesn’t have an ADDITIONAL AND UNNECESSARY flank to worry about, then I still believe the American people will rally around President Biden and the Democrats, (or they will at least rally against Trump and the “Ptoject 2025” republicans.)

^^ Tries to minimize and deflect, even though he will willingly vote for the man and the party who will overwrite our constitution to a fascist plutocracy.

Yay.

Yep, it's the tried-and-true "there you go again" trick. It works precisely because the truth about the Republicans is so extreme it sounds to low information voters like it must be an exaggeration.

But it isn't.

With the repeal of Roe and a compromised SCOTUS, the accusations of over-reacting are falling on deaf ears.

Yeah, the interesting bit was that the percentage was so high at this point. I am guessing some folks just didn’t want to come across as uninformed. But, maybe the will look into it, now.

:)

Which is why I'm not buying into the panic over Biden. Ever since Dobbs, the Dems have overperformed the polls every time.
I honestly did expect a bigger dip for Biden than the polls are showing. I didn’t think it would last long,, though.

Virtually EVERY ONE OF THESE THINGS is not only terrifying, but utterly toxic- economically, socially, and literally in terms of environmental damage- to most Americans. Or if it's not- it should be. I mean, it's almost a joke, like something some cartoon supervillain would try if he ever took over the American government. Except it's not a joke, it's real, and it certainly isn't very funny.

NO true American who loves our country should support ANY of this! Not even the ChloeHarpy/Icanhelp Wizzard guy.

There is evidence that the punditry's sustained attacks on Biden since the debate have done more damage than the debate itself did.

She (and I believe others) has provided that same information previously, and it was largely ignored - probably because the election wasn’t looming.

These "revelations" coupled with a renewed focus / spotlight on “Project 2025” could really turn the tide, imho.

And the corporate media isn’t going to be able to hide “Project 2025” and these "revelations", because they are getting killed on social media and online news sites for their skewed coverage and insane focus on President Biden’s ONE bad DEBATE and a few gaffes.

If Americans are smart and value the structural fabric of this country they will pay attention to project 2025.

Has Bannon been approved for a live link to give his speech at the convention this week?
I bet he asked! I bet he demanded! I bet he said it’s election interference to deny his communicating at the convention

But, the daughter of two who swindled 30 million for themselves? Savannah Chrisley gets a keynote spot! (And a promise of a pardon for her folks) https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics...ncluding-savannah-chrisley/story?id=111851982

Both video and a transcript of Trump's April 21, 2022, Florida speech show him praising The Heritage Foundation and Project 2025's forthcoming "Mandate for Leadership" plans.
Around 20 minutes into Trump's speech, just after referencing the upcoming 2024 election, he said of Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts
"Already we have shown the power of our winning formula, working closely with many of the great people at Heritage over the four incredible years that we've worked with you a lot and we were just discussing it with Kevin (inaudible), they're going to work on some other things that are going to be very exciting, I think, Kevin, I think maybe the most exciting of all."

about 41 minutes into the speech:

Because our country is going to hell. The critical job of institutions such as Heritage is to lay the groundwork. And Heritage does such an incredible job at that. And I'm telling you, with Kevin and the staff, and I met so many of them now, I took pictures with among the most handsome, beautiful people I've ever seen. I didn't like that picture. If you could lose that picture, please would you Kevin? But this is a great… No, he says I won't do that.
But this is a great group. And they're going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America and that's coming. That's coming. Because nobody can stand what's happening right now. Only a fool, only a fool or somebody that hates our country can like what's happening right now. Never been in this position before and already we know a very big part of our agenda.

but, yanno, he doesn't know anything about them or who they are.

and the sun is a great golden mcdonald's burger
