The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Happy Juneteenth/Wednesday. Our new fed holiday. I always hated when they fell in the middle of the week because you have to take more than a day of PTO to make a very long weekend out of it.

No special plans for this day. A bit of writing, a bit of rifle cleaning and reassembly, a bit of cooking, some reading, and I need to start getting serious about a wee exercise program. We'll see. And there's a bike out there which wants to go somewhere.

Meanwhile, coffee . . . .

My mom ended up in the ER having her rings cut off her fingers as a result of a "no see ums" attack during an afternoon round of golf one summer (decades ago). Her hands swelled too fast for ice and benadryl to keep up.
Yikes that is horrible. We were hounded by them once and we jumped into a canoe and paddled like hell to the middle of a lake to get away.

It was hot here today but I was stuck in a ac office. I really hate ac. Not a fan (see what I did there??) 😉

I seriously, don’t like air conditioning. I don’t wanna be brutally hot and sweaty either, but I don’t mind it. I also don’t mind humidity. I know I’m a wacko.

It reminds me of being a kid on summer vacation. As I get older, I like it less than less, but I still don’t mind it and I still enjoy having my car or truck windows open rather than putting on AC.

Had a nice swim w miss conduct when I got home. Just chilled and sat poolside till the sun went down and listened to good music.

Fun night.

My daughter is still testing positive and since I’m seeing my mom Sunday more time apart. I’m needing to see my kid… 🙁
glad you are enjoying what life gives you and fully empathize wanting to see your daughter.

Update on the Spatulas. (Thanks for asking, I though no one cared)

Well the vintage ones cleared customs and should be delivered tomorrow. I have a pre Culinary Control Act bottle of Joy I’ll soak the flippers in at full strength, then a 63/37% mixture of Dawn/RC Cola for a couple of days.

I found a guy who can refinish the stocks in natural oak but, I also received a email from the guy who found the vintage spatulas and he has a couple spatulas with folding stocks that were issued to tank or paratrooper cooks.
Cool!
