The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Home. Dinner out was great. We had a fabulous visit. It's not very often that I'm the youngster of a group, but it was that way at supper. I won the rifle auction. We'll figure out shipping tomorrow. Should be a somewhat less busy day. TDK is okay. We leave Saturday morning early. The weather has been good while we were here, even the rainy bits.

Wat has lazy days, too. It's been a motivating week here. Felt like doing stuff where I like to do stuff, so I did stuff.

I need to decorate that post a bit more tomorrow.

All y'all sleep well. Behaving is overrated. In the morning . . . .

You know I have more faith in nurses then doctors sometimes. And I don't think they give nurses enough physical, or psychological support. You know truck driving is a profession, policeman or police woman is a profession, engineering is a profession. Nurses a profession, doctors a practice? I guess they practice until they get it perfect? But they practice on us.
Nurses are with patients 24/7/365. The ideal situation for patients is collaborative practice. It's seen more often in specialty units, ICUs, ERs, Surgery, less often in general nursing units.

Medicine is a profession as well as a practice, as is Law, as is Nursing, and many others.

But you're right! Nurses do need more recognition and support. Patient outcomes are generally ascribed to the physician, not even recognizing it was the recognition of a problem by the nurse with notification to the physician, then appropriately carrying out the orders that saved the patient's life.

The fallacy is magnified by TV shows depicting physicians essentially carrying out nursing duties while the nurse character is a pretty, mindless, brainless, sidekick to the doctor.

Here’s my shameless plug for nurses…

Had a MOHS procedure done on my hand bout three years ago. My dermatologist has been carving me like a Christmas Turkey for over ten years and I finally came up hot.

So they cut this hole in my hand and it turns out to be Squamous cell carcinoma😮. Long story short about a week later, my hand is going numb. Thumb and pointer and middle ( which gets used often for shitty drivers) so need that one! I call and talk to a nurse who tells me “they hit a nerve, give it 8-10 weeks and all will be normal.” Well I can’t do my job with a numb hand so go out on short term for the 10 weeks.

Go in for my month check up and tell the Doc, what was going on. She pops chaff and swears on a stack of bibles that she didn’t cut far enough down to hit a nerve and that it’s probably carpal tunnel? 🤔…I”m like, I’ve had this hand attached to me for 54 yrs and it’s never had CT before, only after YOU cut on it! We went back and forth and agreed to disagree. I guess she was scared shitless I was going to file a malpractice suit?

Long story short? The numbness went away in week 9…just like the NURSE said it would! 🥰
I'm glad the numbness went away, HDH! And, you can give nurses all the plugs you want! 🤗😘🥰

In. Sun has kicked my ass. We got the south fence replaced. Guys pounded in the posts and put on the panels. We reinstalled the electric after we tooken it down so we could replace the T-posts. Ran the b000sh hawg over the pasture to even it up a bit - it was fertilized on Tuesday. Got the electric fence turnt back on - nobody peed on it. Got the Packard started and moved outta the barn so the hay people can get in more easily - mostly so they don't fuck up mah shit. Unloaded two engines off the trailer and stored them in the barn. Finished the last little piece of hawgin' across the road, too. Did I mention the sun? Now a quick bit o' shut-eye and a shower and then into town to see the guys. Wonder where we'll eat tonight?

(Here's hoping that ili didn't get too exhausted with that list o' shit there.)
I'm SOOOOO exhausted!

(Back of her hand over her eyes, she falls into a dead faint!) 😆😆

What was for dinner?

Finally caught up (for the moment) - little sips at a time.
Abbreviated catch up - staving off the migraine for now, but may be down a quart or two on sense-making. ;)

For me, the attraction is the person. The rest just drives the mechanics (Tab A into Slot B, etc.). Without that personal connection? Pfft - merely transactional.

 seeing Red Hot Chili Pipers perform live!!!

Misread this - thought we were talking a different kind of belt for a minute (i.e. punishment) :ROFLMAO:

Chiming in - café is open 24/7. Give a holler and let us know what you need, chica. Someone's (almost) always here. 🤗

Hope it went well and you succeed in keeping everything in balance

Same - those are some lovely images!

Good boundaries, too. 🤗 A good therapist is worth their weight in diamonds!

🫂 Very glad you found the support you need! I agree - not being alone in itself is good medicine.

I remember being taught at a very young age by my grandmother: Always assume there are sharp knives and other terrors lurking in a sink full of water you can't clearly see through. 🔪 🗡️🔪🪚⛏️

Now who needs a translator?
UK: ginger nuts (biscuit)
US: ginger snaps (cookie)
Me: Yum to both!

May look into but so far not tolerant of any medium for THC. Severe allergic reaction to all types of smoke. Negative experience w/ gummies. It's a bummer. I support medical marijuana - just not for me or near me. 🤷‍♀️

Heard from a neighbor that a webcam caught one on our driveway about 6 weeks ago? We are 2nd tier suburb of a major city. 😳

The Grandpa taxi or the old dog? 😏

I was sitting down and got winded. Dang!

That and the creepy crawlers. Not to mention my parents once had a massive wasp nest under theirs one time. Sibling discovered it when they tried power washing the deck that year.
(I'm an Epi-Pen & Hospital or Death person  )

IMO - never too early... maybe it's really more very, very, very late??

Cold packs at lunch and my acupressure clip toned it down to get through the work day. Adding some (bogus) meds after work helping, too.
I'm allergic to all the true migraine meds. Botox does a great job but not 100%. So the meds I have are glorified Excedrin™️

Someone brought me an apple 🍏 every time they saw me it would curry some fondness, too. ;)

Enjoy the time w/ your friend!! Café will be here when you have time later. I'm still a bit new but haven't had any pop quizzes yet. :ROFLMAO:

Okay - taking off to make some broth based soup for dinner. Then turning in no matter the time. Self-care = Health Care and all that jazz. 😊

Sweet Dreams everyone

I hope you're able to find some relief and sleep tonight. L2WU! 🥰🫂🥰
