The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

This question is more out of curiosity than a question that might be divisive.

Agree with you HDH, anyone who has the stones to put together a band and get out there and play is pretty impressive.

Yeah, we all have our likes as well as our dislikes.
Totally agree on the curiosity side! My wife and I love to argue over the pro’s and con’s of certain bands.

I’ll find that vid I watched and link to it. The meat and potatoes of it is, even with the bands the guy puts on his list, he still has good things to say about some of their work.

Bruce and the Fab 4 are perfect examples. Either stuff I’ve liked by them in the past then just tired of them or their sound (overplaying on Radio and MTeeVee didn’t help) or going back and giving them a second chance and thinking….hmmm, this is good.

It’s all fun and I love to hear what other people like…whether we agree to jam to it or not! 😂

I love to hear music from the 40s, 50s & 60s, real music...

I play music, so let me say this….even the bands I “hate” I have respect for. It takes a lot to get up on stage and put yourself out there, only to have people throw darts. Ask me how I know…
I don't play music but have been thrown under the bus in public many times by family and friends. "I can't sing, but she can"
Hard for me to pick just two or three.
Very few genres I don't like enough for a listen. Or for more than a single song in a long while type of listen. How to narrow to just 3 or 4???

My taste skews more towards slightly newer artists and a bit harder music.

overplaying
Yes! This! HS Prom we had a Beatles cover band. (I was not on any committees so this was a surprise to me.) They did an excellent job covering the Beatles songs. But - one trick pony. And when they went on break? They played a Beatles album. 4 hours of nothing but Beatles? I'm still burned out on most of their music to this day!

Got the tractor fixed. Starts like a champ. Fired the little mother up and drove it off the trailer and parked it out of the way. They guy who is going to build the new fence is starting later this week and will bring his skid steer, so we can unload and move the 2 engines that way.

Almost looks like we know what we're doing up here.

Ok Denizens of the greasy spoon, old man/woman bar and all night cafe. Question of the week:

Who are your top two or three go to bands?

What few bands do you absolutely hate?

And thank you @Yesok1 - what bands are totally overrated? (This should stir shit quite a bit!)
I like pretty much all music. I can't stand Eric clapton

Have you noticed how many nurses are on this thread? It feels like a lot

I went through a spell of dating nurses. Not sure why that was the case, but it was.

There was a summer where every woman I met was Deb/Debbie/Deborah. I was talking to one in a bar and she was getting ready to tell me her name. I said, "wait, let me guess. Deborah!"

"How did you know???"

🤣 :nana:

Given some of the hijinks around here, it feels either just right or slightly low. 👨‍⚕️ 👩‍⚕️

Unless... plot twist... is this café located inside a hospital? 🏥

There was a summer where every woman I met was Deb/Debbie/Deborah.
Knew someone who once dated three women w/ the same first name all at the same time. None of the women knew about the others. Every time someone took a phone message for him, he'd complain there was no last name or number. "He knows." was always the woman's response. So when he'd call back it was always, "Hey, I was just thinking about you."

There was a Stuka pilot during WW2. Probably the most highly decorated soldier in history. They made a medal just for him and 7 others. He got his - the war was over for the other fuckers. Anyway, he was married 3 times, all of them named Ursula. Quick like a bunny I recognized the genius in that - he never muttered the wrong name in bed while he was asleep (and vulnerable) where she could hear him.

I always wondered if #3 ever wondered the same . . . .

Haha.

It was the opposite problem on Seinfeld, when he was dating a girl, but he forgot her name. (Plot twist, it rhymed with a piece of female genitalia… Mulva??? George guessed. No, but they find out the hard way that her name was Dolores.)

Lol. Hot Damn! It's The Soggy Bottom Boys! | O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) | TUNE / TUNE - Musical Moments
I was just gonna say that man of constant sorrow was in brother where Art thou!

Great songs. Great sound track!

I heard this song by Lucinda Williams last night on my mix and thought it would be great for the jukebox at the greasy spoon.
