He is very good. Does good work, doesn't try to screw people over he put in an ac unit for my parents with a booster for 6000 (bigger house) and they were quoted by someone else double that without the booster. They leave in an old house and he fixed the warmer upstairs problem for the most part

He sounds like a great guy! Is he snagable?

Well it’s late night and probably beddy byes for most of you but here the sun is not yet up on a grey Scots day. I am recovering after our day eight hour drive back from the south. Good to see my kids and cuddle my daughter on her 40th and my son on his 42nd birthday.

Glad to be back in Scotland though away from people, traffic, noise and the stress of day to day urban living.

When I wake to this where else would I want to be other than in the arms of a loved one!

My last job was Quality Manager. I was responsible for making sure staff and providers met Medicare standards so the hospital got paid. Being retired is DEFINITELY more rewarding!

This has been an amazing thread! Thanks, Wat, for recognizing W's leadership and initiative to create a welcoming and safe place for (most of) us! It's turned into our own neighborhood place to hang out!

How was work? Are you getting your vendors to produce? I used to have what I called "conversations" with vendors and others who were not meeting my standards. I'm not a screechy, yelling person. The madder I get, the lower and slower I talk. NOBODY wanted to have a "conversation" with me.

Yes, it's a good ol' thread. It kind of reminds me of one we used to post in once upon a time 20+ years ago (yes, really) that was mostly good fun and kinda silly, but serious when it called for that. And we'd take that show on the road sometimes, too.


Work is improving a bit. The PM got a bit antsy about some shit that isn't holding anything up but that he decided needed to be done already - until he saw the bill. Wat had sorted it for way cheaper. And apparently, there's something in Wat's delivery and engagement which really seems to get their attention. And there is also something about his demeanor when they fuck up, like he convinces them that he is de meaner one in the conversation. Almost nobody wants those little chats.


We did have one sub at my old place of employment. They were the owner's ace in the hole. Their bid on the last job I worked there was $700K lower than the next one for a $2M contract. They left small fortune on the table, but the customer also got some lame-ass work. We were expected to manage them. That was the pits. My Spanish is good enough to assert my will. These asshats were Brazilians. And sloppy. I have stories. I got to the point that I used to browbeat the supervisor daily in the hopes that he'd actually manage his people just so I would shut up. Then I got a better offer elsewhere and left. Thing is, I didn't need the negativity. But they were the worst ever, and it was a happy day when I put all of their contacts out of my phone.

We could. They're wonderful kids, and they like each other. The girls kinda bang on them, but they tolerate it.

Happy Friday. Half a day at work today - the knock-off-at-noon type and not the 12-hour shift type. The truck is fueled and ready to hit the road. I have to pack and load yet, but we're good. Wats pack quickly.
