It’s Ascension Thursday. Or Fathers Day as Germans like to call it. Lots of young men go out walking, laden down with crates of beer and bottles of spirits to drink along the way

Probably not. Usually one of them is sober. Sometimes they rent a beer bicycle and make an awful racket

I've been there for a weekend break with my ex. So much history. A lot centered around the war, and subsequent wall.

But, it was very chique and European. I liked how clean it was.

I was in Berlin before the wall came down. East Berlin was grim. The city has changed a lot. I love visiting as we have family there.

I stayed in Potsdam... and flew in via Schönefeld, which was delightfully retro.

After all that drink I'd forget why I'm walking let alone where I'm going, probably turn round half way and stagger home

I love Potsdam! I’m taking my bike Maedhbh up to do some cycling south of Potsdam next week. Lovely flat land with lots of lakes and woodlands.
