The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Get home safely, Horatio! I love your Zen postings! They are great reminders! 💞
Made it home safe and sound. Airlining in the US isn’t what the movies make it out to be🙄, but I made it home in one piece and only slightly ruffled feathers, so can’t complain. Thank you for the well wishes BTW! 😘

Today is surgery day for my old juniper bonsai. Keeping fingers crossed my Shari doesn’t kill it 😲. I think I may be overthinking it a tad, as the kids and myself have tried many times over the years to take her out but she keeps thriving! I’ll post pics when I’m done with her. She’s getting some much deserved love this week!

And now…your morning Zen…

One of my first lessons from the army: “even a bad cup of coffee is a good cup of coffee.”
What did we call it? We used to take the coco out of the MRE’s and mix it with whatever witch’s brew was put on that morning in Ops….It had a name…my brain….it-sa no good no more…Mocha-somthing or other?

I only started drinking coffee in the military, I never liked it as a kid?
I was a tanker, so I had to add luxury of being able to heat up food on the “bitch plate” of the tank. the bitch plate was the cover of the exhaust manifold of the M1A2 turbine engine which generates quite a bit of heat.

Simply turned the turret, a little bit to the side and you have easy access. Heated up MRI and coffee and just a few moments.

In a pinch, you could actually cook on the pitch plate, but once you took that cover off the surface was a little flatter, and much easier to cook on.

You didn’t actually cook on it, but you put your foil wrapped on it and heated it right up. 20-30 seconds and you had a pretty nice warm meal or a shitty mRE cuppa.

The Brits have been able to brew tea and heat meals INSIDE the tank since WWII. But they invented them so they have that technological advantage.

What’s really distressing is the only product Caterpillar doesn’t stand behind is the manure spreader.

I have 24v in the Land Cruiser so I could cook and drive at the same time with one of these?

I'd stand well away from that piece of equipment, too.
