The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I know how it goes, I've been stocking up on completions
Chapter 8 of All Aboard Andi's Dream is complete (I started it the minute I submitted chapter 7 and completed 37K words before Laurel posted chapter 7)
Chapter 9 is half done
Two episodes of Captain Scarlet are complete, Episode 3 is near completion (Geek Pride Event)
The Assistant Librarian is nearing completion (On The Job event)
What I Write and Why is complete, I may start a second story.

On the drawing board:
Giant Sword (Yay Team event)
I don't do Nude Day (Nude Day contest)
Teacher Teacher (Summer Fun)
I don't do Halloween (Halloween)
Audrey and Mike (Stormwatch Universe)
Little Ellie (Winter Holiday) (Stormwatch Universe)

One of my very favorite comedy routines ever.
Anyone who has played classical music on any instrument has probably experienced this meltdown

Too much time on the roof. The manufacturer included the wrong part for fastening the chimney cap to the chimney pipe, so now it's time to improvise.

On the brighter side, every time I come back inside I can write another sentence or two.

Installing a wood stove?

Welp, just finished mowing my entire property.
Trimmed the hedges, used the weed eater, and setup a live trap to catch a skunk that's decided to make a home underneath my neighbors shed.
I'm exhausted and food is on the way.
On days like today, I'm so thankful for delivery service.

Installing a wood stove?
Replacing the flue cap for the furnace/water heater exhaust. It blew off a few storms ago. Our storms are more wind than anything, so I wasn't in a real hurry to replace it.

The cap has three struts that were supposed to be clamped to the double-wall pipe with a steel band. Said band would have to be within a fraction of an inch of the pipe circumference for that to work, but it's way bigger than the circumference of the pipe.

It was ordered from a Canadian manufacturer and assembled by one-armed elves, then it was carried here on a prairie schooner drawn by a team of oxen trained to plod as slowly as possible, so returning it didn't seem practical. Now said struts are fastened to the double-wall pipe with screws, much like the old one that blew off.

This writing in bits and snatches doesn't get much done, but it might work since I'm in the course of introducing Hector, who is a busy, busy man.

...ignoring things like household chores, car maintenance, finishing taxes,...

I was pulling myself together to mow the backyard and then change the oil on one of the cars... now the storms just moved in. Might be a good opportunity to work on the taxes due next week (mostly done, fortunately).

On second thought, how about a bowl of ice cream? Yeah, that'll work. 😇

My favorite flavor of ice cream was BOGO at Wynn Dixie, so why not? I had to get eggs for supper, I'm making fettuccini noodles for dinner tonight

The home made fettuccini noodles were incredible. I made the noodles from scratch, it was quite a learning experience and next time the noodles will be a setting thinner, but as I slaved away making the noodles, it was the wife's job to make the sauce. When it was her turn to shine she handed me a jar and went back to watch the Godfather 2.

Coffee is on for you evening imbibers!

Dinner here will be Mexican carryout--a carne adovada platter for me. Pretty much anything would be ok with me as long as my wife goes to get it. I'm not in the mood.

I decided a late afternoon nap was in order. Sleep has been a precious commodity around here since C is still hobbled and I have to tend to everything in the household including a very demanding dog. Mr. Personality and smarter than a whip, but he damn well knows it.

Just had a severe T-storm through here including a suspected tornado a few miles north. Friend is visiting from California to see the eclipse tomorrow. He is staying in a hotel that was near the tornado warning and got a little taste of Midwestern weather reality. Speaking of the eclipse, I have to go out (once it stops raining!) to cordon off the parking lot at our studio. It's on an acre downtown; the property is groomed and sort of looks like a park, so I need to give the out-of-towners some indication that no, it's not a public park, and sorry, we sort of want our privacy to enjoy this event in peace.

I would need a pasta maker for that. Rolling the dough out by hand and cutting it would be beyond my skill level.

I do have a pasta maker, an attachment for the Kitchen Aide mixer. Just screw it into the PTO and away it goes.

let me just say, if you ever inherit a very, very tiny interest (1/32) in a narrow, long, skinny piece of land (mineral and surface rights) that had been offered to the county to extend a small road (think paved driveway), but the county never accepted that offer (more than 30 years ago), and now a major new pipeline needs to cross that skinny narrow strip (dig a trench 48" deep and drop in a 48" pipeline), I certainly do hope that you don't have to deal with six in-laws that (stupidly) believe to use that strip they should each be paid $3000.00.

I am not certain we actually own that land in any form as the adjoining land owner has been using it as his driveway for at least 12 years and PAYING THE TAXES on it for at least 12 years. The pipeline is gonna head toward TxRad's area although I don't think it will cross any of his property. Natural gas, lots and lots of natural gas moving to (probably) Orange TX area. I always miss my husband but at times like this is really, really miss having him around to deal with his family.

do you mean captain scarlet (and the mysterons?)
Completely different. Captain Scarlett (two T's) Is a Martian and he's a captain in the Western Alliance Navy, (Fighter Pilot) his wife Pandora Vermillion is a Luna (born on the moon) and she's a Marine Colonel.

Eclipse day.

I have an old friend (both in his years on this earth, and my knowing him for 50 years) coming into town from far-away California for the celestial event and to catch up. He and his wife of 40+ years divorced just a few months ago, so I'm sure we have many interesting things to talk about, including several mutual friends also in their autumn years. I'm hopeful that the eclipse tourists have left town before the dinner hour so we can sit back, relax, and commiserate at my usual margarita joint.

Speaking of the anticipated crowds, this morning there was a missive on a local news blog from the county sheriff about "trespassing" relative to the eclipse activity. C and I laughed about "preaching to the choir" since the problem is going to be the hoards from "drive-distance" big cities descending on the area. They won't be seeing that message at all. I'm somewhat counting on our little burg being well off the Interstates to mitigate the intensity. We'll see.

Oh... and another installment in the Barstow series goes live tonight. Yay!

I saw a full eclipse in Denver years ago, it was amazing how the temperature dropped almost 20 degrees while we were in the shadow of the moon. The power of the sun is incredible.

Ok. I'm at the Mayo Clinic all day today, so you're going to have to fend for yourselves

I put on a fresh pot of coffee and left instructions for the fancy tea kettle

Anybody in the path of the eclipse? Nothing on the radar in my neck of the woods. :coffee: is good today as every other day! :coffee::coffee:

Yes, it's the first person from Jekyll's lawyer and best friend's point of view. But very little of it (one longish letter) is from Henry's point of view and only near the end.
The original is all first person with some long letters (other people's first person), so I don't see why it wouldn't. I'd be happy to take a look.
No, I'll do my own work on fixing it when I get ready to fix it.
care to send me the text please?

My niece in the Detroit area will get nearly 100% totality. Should be starting about now.
