Day 24
The 90’s you say !??
Ok ok

I know #29 by a guy named John Phillip Sousa… of the sousaphone fame, long before Dr Seuss grew his musical contraptions. This guy was obsessed with marches!!
“The Thunderer”.., I bet you know it!! Second tune!
Not sure I can find anything from the 80’s, so don’t ask!!

Enjoy your time travel

Spank away!! It’s one post !!

Wait! “Liberty Bell March” #21 Monty Python theme.. 4th Sousa so far?
5 for Sousa but George J Gaskin owned that decade. Amazing number of those songs survive today!!

Granted.., someone may hate this choice
I’ll put that down to their bad day
Too many helicopters to watch ??

The Liberty Bell March got me in trouble in boot camp. I was in formation, marching to military orchestral music, preparing to graduate. All of a sudden I start laughing because the band starts playing the "Monty Python" theme.....lol

Fuck Sousa! Guy didn't know how to write a French horn part for shit!
It's the same note! Over and over!

If You Wanna - The Vaccines

This decade was a blur musically for me. Beforehand I could map my whole life by whatever song was important to me at the time. But then a series of unfortunate events left me unable to find the joy in it anymore.
I confess I chose this song after a search to remind myself of things I'd enjoyed on the radio in the before times. It's upbeat and catchy and sometimes that's just enough

Sorry Rosie. I put a sad next to it. It’s a great song, but sorry all that happened to you.

Sometimes days, weeks, months even, decades are like that. 🙁

“Out of darkness cometh light.”

No apology needed.
Yeah I'm slowly trying to get back into it again and this thread has actually been amazing for introducing me to stuff I've missed too

That is fucking hillarious!

I picked up a record of military marches a few years ago at a flea market. They are ridiculously fun to put on sometimes when my whole family is around, and we all march around the house.

I know… I am a whacko…

Ok fuck I meant to post this earlier but the day was crazy and then I got drunk and here we are. Now you get my drunk rambles.

This was a harddddddd one for me. These were my formative music years. I wanna post 20 songs. But I won’t. Rules and everything 🙄

I could post Bright Eyes. Right? Of course I could. It wouldn’t be wrong. My favorite band.

I’m gonna go a different direction though. For the love of pop punk and emo. Which doesn’t get enough love. Definitely not on this thread. I’m guessing most of you don’t like it. That’s ok. Some of you have shitty music taste. I keep my mouth shut about that.

Ok so back in high school this album came out and my friends and I were so obsessed with it. We followed them around New England going to all their local shows and getting there hours early so we could set up camp in line and be the first to get in the venue. And we’d get to see the band when they showed up and unloaded their stuff and they’d come and talk to us and we’d imagine that they thought we were hot. Good times.
Then during their set in between songs I’d always scream the name of the favorite song I wanted them to play which they never did because it’s acoustic but I begged anyone. One show they did play it and I’m just gonna say it was for me, ok? It was for me.

So fuck you if you don’t like emo music. I will forever blast this in my car just like I did at 16.

Envy On The Coast - The Gift of Paralysis
Of course it was for you.

I think a band playing a deep cut that’s your favorite is like in the top 100 feelings in the world. Okay, maybe 200. Kids and partners and shit add a lot to the top 100. But still!
