But always ask locals first. Some are hanging on to their rights for a nude beach by a very slender thread, and they're rightfully afraid that if you're fucking on the beach and the rangers or local cops see you, they'll close down the beach for everybody. Not something you'd want to take the blame for, right?

Exactly - that's what I've heard as well, so was surprised so many references to fucking on public beaches - outside of resorts. Hedo is a given of course - but the run of the mill US nude beach - I'd be shocked if it was allowed
 
I went to my first clothing optional beach this past weekend. The beach is quite small and it was pretty crowded. People were all sitting quite close to one another. I thought I'd be nervous stripping off in public for the first time but I wasn't at all. Nearly everyone was naked although there were a few women who kept their bikini bottoms on and the odd fully clothed person who strolled past. Feeling the sun and breeze on my cock felt really good. Walking naked back to the exit past a couple of hundred people was pretty exciting and really empowering.
