Rudy $148 Million Poorer Now

Once again, we see how the party of Personal Responsibility never, ever, ever practices what they preach...
The judge, not a jury finds him guilty after not allowing him to put on a defense. Let's see what happens at the appellate level.

The judge was correct

Howell found that Giuliani refused to comply with a process for producing records, known as discovery, and rejected the former New York mayor's argument that the election workers used the lawsuit to harass him.

"Donning a cloak of victimization may play well on a public stage to certain audiences, but in a court of law this performance has served only to subvert the normal process of discovery in a straight-forward defamation case," Howell wrote in her order.

Giuliani trashed their good names by lying about them, and exposed them to the threat of mob violence. They deserve every cent.
No they dont. The damage done to them cannot be more than what they can make in their working life. Huge punitive awards like this make a mockery of the justice system

Getting a judgment is one thing. Collecting on it is another.
Like Al Sharpton paying his back taxes and judgements. Actually this judicial interference with elections and freedom of speech but the democrat baboons on this forum wouldnt see it that way.

There is no legal basis for that whatsoever; and it's not even factually true. Besides, the point of punitive damages has nothing to do with any measure of what the victim suffered. Rather, they're to punish the offender for what s/he did. That's why they're called punitive.

Check out the way insurance companies pay claims against their clients....shheeeesh

“Before filing this lawsuit, Plaintiffs’ counsel asked Defendant Giuliani to enter into an agreement to stop publishing these and any similar false claims about Plaintiffs. Defendant Giuliani refused,” the suit read. “Defendant Giuliani’s statements, coupled with his refusal to agree to refrain from continuing to make such statements, make clear that he intends to persist in his campaign of targeted defamation and harassment. It must stop.”

Freeman and Moss are not asking for monetary damages this time. Rather, the plaintiffs are seeking “a targeted injunction barring Defendant Giuliani from continuing to repeat the very falsehoods about Plaintiffs that have already been found and held, conclusively, to be defamatory.”

Unfortunately, even a $148 million judgement against Rudy can't keep Chief Running Hair-dye from continuing to flap his shit-eating gums and defaming the plaintiffs even more.

Of course not, Rudy has no intention of paying a dime. Not to his Lawyers, and certainly not to the plaintiffs.

whatever his intentions, the judge has given the green light for the Shaye and Ruby to begin attempts to collect immediately rather than having to wait the normal time period (a month, i think?), in attempts to see they get as much of the money they're owed as possible

Freeman and Moss subsequently asked the judge to "permit immediate enforcement" of the judgment out of concern that the former New York City mayor could attempt to "find a way to dissipate [his] assets before plaintiffs are able to recover."

Judge Beryl Howell agreed Wednesday that Giuliani's record as an "unwilling and uncooperative litigant" provides the plaintiffs "good cause to believe that he will seek to dissipate or conceal his assets" before paying them.
Howell added that other civil cases filed against Giuliani -- including one filed by his former attorney, Robert Costello, and another filed by President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden -- "raise the risk that Giuliani has even greater motivation to hide his financial assets from potential future judgments against him."

Yes I read about that, still I doubt Rudy has anything that other Lawyers don't have claims in on. I wish them well, money is about the only thing these people (Rudy, Trump...)seem to care about.
