Hillbilly Johnny's neighbors know to keep their young-ens indoors when Hillbilly Johnny's got his shootin' iron out, on account of his poor eyesight and the fact that one of the "antlerless deer" he bagged last season was, in fact, a Great Dane....Our late Muzzleloader season starts Saturday. I was in Italy for the early season and missed it. Still have 6 anterless deer on my permit.
The 92-year-old .270 shoots a bit flatter out to 1000 yrds. Just sayin'.Researching a scope for the new 6.5 upper. I think that we'll pretend that it's 1000-yard capable and glass it from there.

Ahahaha. Just trying to help get on target.I don't have a .270. Won't next millennium, either.
You need to get a KYL set for out West Wat.
Know Your Limits
We have a set set up out at 400 yds. Can make for an interesting day.

Well with the 6.5 you do have access to bullets with better BC and SD than the .308.That looks to be something practical. We still haven't figured out where to put the big range yet, but we're also still eyeballing acquiring more dirt, too, so current ideas might change. We're using the dinky targets and reduced range stuff for now.
Yeah, I know. Went with the AR10 platform, so I have to have shorter cartridges.

It isn't but at 1000 yards the .308 is dropping 332 inches and the 6.5 is dropping 290 all due to better sectional density and ballistic coefficient in the bullets available. And IMO, the .308 ain't too shabby to start with. Maybe that's because that's what I learned to do some serious shooting with, and the chambering of the first good rifle I bought, too.
With what you are shooting you absolutely need AR500 steel 3/8" thick. That looks to be something practical. The way it works is you get 1 pt. for the 12", 2 pts for the 10", 3 for the 8", and so on. You can quit anytime you want with the score you have accumulated, but if you miss you lose all your points. Hence the name, "Know Your Limits."
Another action snob huh?
LOL You can shoot anything you want. I'm a bolt gun guy and you aren't. No one to bless or blame there.Maybe I could get a couple more M1s and rebarrel them so you'll like me gooderer for owning what you think I should be shooting.

Take heed of this, everyone. This is coming from a guy who has the stuffed head of a Great Dane on the wall of his den.I don't care for bolt action either.
Ahhhh!!!! Giggling with Rob the Racist.Take heed of this, everyone. This is coming from a guy who has the stuffed head of a Great Dane on the wall of his den.

Yup, and the AR10 is 50% safer.Someone should tell the government that AR500 steel exists to see if they'd get all excited and try to ban it.
After all, if an AR15 is bad... AR500 must be 33.33 TIMES as bad!
Damn sure always wear plates when I don't know who will be in the class. Here for the CCW class, range time is optional.
Wat avoids rookies at the range.
In fact, he quite prefers to be alone.
And that's why Out West appeals so strongly.
