Cosmoline impregnated?
These guys have Walnut turning blanks of various shades.
Barrington
Cheap way of experimenting. I've done business with them before, albeit for a different purpose.
I'd never have a Kimber simply due to cost. My Springfield was affordable and came with night sights, better trigger, beveled mag well, ambidextrous safety, and extreme sexiness! We were talking about 1911s at work today. There were 3 HVAC guys and me, and we all have at least one. The only guy with a complaint has a Kimber, and all he said about it was that it was a tad finicky.
The blanks they sent me very much matched the grain that you'd see in a rifle stock. I think they'll get the job done for you.Hmmm, probably not.
I did order some sample walnut to play with. I hope that it's halfway a similar grain and texture to what these stocks are. And if not, I haven't tied up much in it anyway.
That's been my experience with Kimbers. They seem to be ammo/load sensitive. We were talking about 1911s at work today. There were 3 HVAC guys and me, and we all have at least one. The only guy with a complaint has a Kimber, and all he said about it was that it was a tad finicky.

Due to extremely high order volume over the past few weeks, orders placed at this time may take 5 to 10 days to be shipped out. We currently have an extremely heavy backlog of orders, and all orders will be filled, but expect shipping delays.
That's always a damned shame.
