McCarthy received 201 votes and saw that they expected more than that for the first round this time.

They just went to recess, so that line about Jordan obviously was wrong...though still a chance for another vote later today.

What it will come down to: Will those opposing Jordan have enough fortitude, courage and character to hold their ground, or will they cave? They may look at Liz Cheney and then follow the crowd to a Jordan as speaker conclusion. Or they may have enough backbone to hold to their position. If so what then? McCarthy again? Or a more moderate Republican candidate? You aren't going to see any Republicans vote for Jefferies. Ain't gunna happen no more than would be if things were reversed.

If Jordan is Speaker, don't expect much legislation to get passed. There might be some bills that get out of the house, but they are going to be shut down in the Senate. I really can't see a winning solution to this mess any which way it goes.

Ok. I’m for that but correct me if I’m wrong but have republicans put forth a budget? I believe we know what the fringe won’t fund and those are nonstarters for democrats and wouldn’t get the votes from moderate republicans. A budget by democrats would most likely pass but McCarthy can’t bring that to the floor. This congress has been the least effective in history. Everything breaks down into a microcosm of what we are seeing now in the speakership vote. If McCarthy wins back the gavel he faces having to fund the government which was the catalyst of all this nonsense to begin with.

Oh I completely agree with that. Honestly we are well past the point where Biden and other dems should be doing interviews just calling out the Right. One thing I've noticed over the years is that the Dems are terrible at two things. They suck at working the media. Additionally they suck at building up their bench. I mean I swear for every Dem that I can name Congress I can probably name two Republicans. We had to call Biden out of retirement because who else was gonna run?

I thought I heard that Jeffries and democrats wanted their bills to be brought to floor for vote. I know! You can’t have a give and take starting with such an unreasonable demand.
