Gun stuff is dumb stuff

Gun violence is a symptom of a deeper problem within society which will not be cured by abolishing 2A. DC has the strictest gun laws on the books. Swamp creatures are being devoured by their own creation * the SWAMP*, DC is one of the most dangerous places on earth. Part of the problem is failure to 'UPHOLD THEIR OWN LAWS'. Restricting gun ownership or prosecuting law breakers, witch attacks the problem more directly?

Who commits more gun crimes? Gun owners or non-gun owners?

As an after thought... over 300 children drowned (I believe 2019 or 2020 not sure) 75% of the drownings occurred within 25 ft of the parents. Not counting the. Children killed or maimed in automobile accidents...... start there with your crusade
In 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, there were 1,732 gun deaths among U.S. children and teens under the age of 18. By 2021, that figure had increased to 2,590.

Every year in the US, 3,572 people die from drowning. Nine hundred and forty-five of them are children.

Of the 38,824 traffic fatalities in 2020 in the United States, 1,093 (3%) were children 14 and younger

Thanks, but firearms deaths far exceed both road and drowning deaths added together. I'll stick with crusading against firearms.
If I were sarcastic I could ask, Why do you support children's deaths?

What attude do you expect when unhinged people attack my basic human rights.... I support anything that preserves the bill of rights......

Yes we know you believe 2A comes before the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That's what happens to brainwashed people who have become pawns of the gun lobby. I'm sure that all the dead children will be very happy to know that your gun makes you feel like you get to "own the libs". Too bad they'll die for it because of some nutjob with a gun - which you support.

So, wanna compare that to the thousands upon thousands who die of gun violence?

Again, it's more important for you to taunt those who advocate for responsibility.

Because you participate in and enjoy interactions meant to denigrate gun control advocates.

And further support politicians who are firmly on the side of monetizing 2A regardless of sense or safety.
Broad stroking all gun owners like this is yet another reason why we will fail to accomplish anything meaningful in forming a coalition to work to end gun violence.

I have repeatedly said that I support much harsher penalties for any gun violation, with no ability for the courts to plea bargain away those penalties. I also support revitalizing our mental health systems and making it easier for family to place their loved ones in 72 hour crisis mental health holds if they make violent threats against others or themselves.

I would love to be part of the solution but the problem is there is too much rhetoric from both sides and too few willing to listen as much as they want to pontificate. The difficulty from my perspective is slowing or stopping gun violence while not infringing on the rights of millions of law abiding gun owners that are not at all part of this problem.

By the way, I do not belong to the NRA or any other gun owners association. I practice safe use of my firearms. When I target shoot I have a safe back stop, enforce strict rules of safety for anyone with me, I go so far as to enforce the use of hearing and eye protection, and cleaning up the target area when done.

So we can talk to each other or continue the standard yell at each other. Your choice. .

A big part of the current political problem and division is due to the NRA’s litmus test and grading for candidates based solely on their support for gun freedoms.

Aghhh! your favorite crutch *RACISM*. Well Mr. clueless we're discussing *GUN STUFF* o_O
My favorite crutch? :ROFLMAO:

I'm sorry for reminding you what your glory days in the '60s that you referred to as being some sort of Paradise Lost compared to now were like, homeslice.

and all that? it includes the guns, too.

How about these wholesome family’s experiences?

Honestly there are 2 failures here before it ever gets to the point of this horrific accident.

1) What supposedly responsible adult/parent thought having a 9 year old girl fire a fully automatic submachinegun was a good idea? How does something like this even enter into a rational, thinking, adult's mind.

2) What supposedly competent, professional, firearms instructor would allow this to happen on his range? I do not mean to disparage this man, especially since he is deceased, but seriously a 9 year old little girl with a fully automatic submachine gun just seems bizarre or perhaps a momentary lapse of reason.

How about the JR-15? An AR that shoots real bullets just for kids made by US manufacturer Wee-1.

I'm from Massachusetts you dimwad. I lived through the racial riots and forced busing bullshit. I have no regrets for living during that era, but I'm sure in your eyes that makes me a racist.

I think what fries me about this is that it is obviously out of control. The gun violence, the international travel warnings, the school shootings, random shootings at malls, theaters, stores, parking lots etc. We have more mass shootings than days. But because it's been framed as an "own the libs" argument it's become something to use to actually taunt people who are tired of the gun violence.

What's the point of taunting people who are tired of innocent people going about their day being shot and killed? Why would anyone want to do that?

Well at least your using real data so kudos. The Mantra of gun deaths being the number 1 cause of death is skud as those saying it included ages 18 and 19, which are primarily gang related. Most don't do the research you've done, so hats off.

AND as I said I am NOT a member of the NRA. I disagree with some of the NRA's stances and in my opinion Wayne LaPierre is a shyster and not to be trusted to look out for anyone other than himself and his cronies. I pick candidates based on what they say and I may or may not continue to support them on whether they even try or actually accomplish what they promised. I have held that litmus test to Democrats, Republicans and Independents I have voted for. If they at least try to accomplish what they promise I may give them another chance, if not I start to look elsewhere. It's hard sometimes because none of the parties today have a sense of what the middle of the road guy like me wants. My perfect candidate would pick and choose elements from the dems and reps, sadly that's not going to happen in today's divisive world.

Has there ever been a mass shooter who didn’t own a gun? 🤔
Actually yes. I can't remember the specifics but the son shot and killed his mother, and then stole her rifle and committed a mass shooting. He was not legally allowed to own a firearm.

How about the JR-15? An AR that shoots real bullets just for kids made by US manufacturer Wee-1.

This model may be new, and it is a semi-automatic, not fully automatic, but the idea of smaller firearms for youth is nothing new. Many manufacturers of rifles make down sized versions for youth or smaller adults. My son bought his step daughter a .22lr bolt action rifle called a Cricket. It was a single shot rifle designed to teach safety and proper shooting technique to younger kids. If I remember right she was around 12 when he bought it and unless they went shooting together he maintained control of the rifle. She became a safe, conscientious, and honestly, quite accurate shooter.

He certainly did completely fuck the mental health care system. The effects have been disasterous and long lasting. The interesting question though is power has been held off and on by both parties and why hasn't either one even tried to fix this problem.

Closest thing to address it has been the ACA. Inception, support and opposition for that is well documented.

Additionally it was only one party (literal party lines vote dang near) that also repealed restrictions for gun ownership for mental health issues.

The both parties line is a bit inaccurate.

The dems held both houses until this last election...Where was their power move?

The truth is gun laws are like abortion laws. Until a politician is willing to lose their cushy job, outrageous pay, health benefits, and retirement, they will do nothing that they see as a detriment to being re-elected. Most politicians spend more time worrying about being re-elected than serving the constituents.

This is the type of question and attitude that earns you the hairy eyebrow. 60% majority vote needed to pass. Republicans offering no cooperation or stepping outside of the party line of "no" for mental health and/or social services.

Would you like to rephrase your inquiry into something that reflects the reality of how American governance works?
