Makers is one of my two go-tos along with Woodford Reserve. Both are reasonably priced but great sippers. Might be sacrilege, but I've found Evan Williams to be much better than it should be allowed to be at its price. Won't compete with anything high priced or anything, but I think most people on a blind test would guess it was more expensive than it is.
And if you ever want a nice gateway scotch, I've loved my bottled of Balvenie Caribbean Cask. It's a 14 year scotch, and the last 2 years it's finished in rum barrels, which gives it a very unique character.
I usually don't like rye myself, but my older sister bought me one for Christmas that won me over, so I may get another bottle when I finally work my way through it.
