Society benefits most from longterm monogamy. Our parents were not ignorant. People today are just selfish only considerate if something benefits them.

societal demands - I found them to be free of any demands.

Interesting that you believe in "our parents" being monogamous.

Yes. I forget who did a study were 18% of women admitted there is a chance their husbands are raising another mans child. It is believed that it may actually be 36% of women that cheated but half will not admit to it. I get that.
Realistically however society has always encouraged long term monogamy in every relevant society. Im speaking from the rule not some random obscure culture that no one knows about. I also have a half brother and know firsthand the counter productive effects caused by promiscuity.
You could be proud of your grandmother or daughter slutting around. Im not sure you understand simple economics. Supply and demand determine somethings value. Its easy for women to acquire sex so easy women command less value. Where as an exclusive woman particularly virgins have always been viewed as treasures worth a small fortune.

Realistically, even the Bible describes non-monogamous relationships thousands of years ago, such as when Abraham's wife told him to take her handmaid.

Monogamous relationships have always been about control and ownership. And those control freaks are the first to have a meltdown, when they discover the reality that their spouse actually admits to WANTING to try someone else.
