Chaos: Don't Stress, Undress

I hate the sound of my own voice, which is funny if you take into consideration what I used to do for a living, so no recording from me.

As for my face, my current employer is a subcontractor for the US government, so I’m playing it safe. Not super safe, since the tattoos on my arms are pretty distinctive.

The only time I am told I do is if it is someone from out of the states. But I guess depending on where on the East Coast you are. One of my favorite Lit voices was from North Carolina. I'd have married her just for her voice. :p Fara, who is up in New York, has a very strong accent too. I know Boston is known for their accents as well as New Jersey. I'm not from the east coast so I could probably not make out the differences very well. Maybe Boston.
My wife is from Yonkers, a city just outside of NYC, and has a very distinctive accent. There are multiple NYC accents but the second she opens her mouth you know she's a New Yorker.

How do you sound different? Do you think you sound deeper or just different?
Definitely not deeper. I think maybe more nasally or congested. It's hard for me to describe other than it really caught off guard the first time I heard it.

Our voices sound deeper in our heads then they do on recording. Something to do with the inner ear

yeah, I think it's how the sound travels through the bones of our skull. We never hear ourselves as we truly sound until it's recorded and we're shocked.I was a DJ in college and when I'd hear a playback I ws always horrified. Still hate my voice LOL

NZ Pinot gris 👌🏼
NZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc ❤️

this is why I should write down what I’m going to say. Should, but I don’t
Your accent is as gorgeous as you. I need an emoji with hearts for ears *and* eyes.

Okay, what is goong on? Am away for a day and suddenly everyone is sharing their wonderfull voices? Is this thread just going to become all of my favourite threads in one?
I can't say I understand why, but I'm glad that you enjoyed my voice. 😊

My 5 cents
Loving your accent.

Here you go. But be warned. I am catching a cold. https://voca.ro/1hLLCtIIi2IJ
I'm glad I caught your voice. Sorry about the cold.

Love the no pants dance.
Highly preferred over the ants in your pants dance.

Here, I have a really deep voice for a woman. I’m an alto 😉.
I love the range of American accents, so cool. All are fun though because they’re different
I love the NZ accent and the subtle difference vs Aussie (and SA)...

Here you go Lindi, The Canadian sounds just like me :ROFLMAO:

The oddest thing I have seen / heard with accents is that Buffalo NY / Niagara Falls NY has a very distinctive accent that doesn't exist at all on this side of the Niagara River. People in Niagara Falls Ontario sound like the rest of SW Ontario.
