So - I had a plan to try to figure out where we can have an event in about 6 weeks - a retirement party - and it has been so long since I have thought about such things or gone much of anywhere other than work (yes - in person work), errands, and looking after people and so much seems to have changed in the last few years.

We had been told there are some new breweries (Codeman93 offered to join me to check them out)... but we decided to go to a place that has excellent food first - and a place that maybe has a good party room. We get there and though they are supposed to be open on Sundays, they were not today - except someone who seemed to be robbing them of all of their chaffing dishes. Well - probably not ACTUALLY robbing them - but though he seemed to be staff he shortly informed me that he doesn't work there and "I don't know shit"

So - strike one.

so off we go to a long established microbrewery that is something of a community classic. Good pub food - not quite a gastropub, but a good menu - and excellent beer, hard cider, cocktails. Generally a good atmosphere and family friendly. I have been going there for many years, but today was a first ever experience there or anywhere for me...
(might be a sign I have not spent enough time in dive bars ?)

They are negotiating who is going to pay the bill. The louder one announces her annual salary and that she therefore is making good money and will pick up the tab. (I find this TMI - totally inappropriate - I do not need to know, nor do I want to know how much money she is making.) And now I realize she is quite inebriated. She tells the room she has moved to Cascadia from Dallas. Then - with fresh drinks on the table - they go outside for a smoke.
When she comes back inside - she comes straight to me and asks if she saw me earlier in the day at another bar. Nope - this is our first stop... she says - well you should have been there - "high five" as she holds up her hand for me to smack...
I decline - I am eating and my hands, thank you very much are clean.
Well - she now thinks I am a snob.
But I return to my most excellent huckleberry hard cider, delicious fresh oyster soup and caesar salad. She returns to her table and downs another cocktail
