Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

The most distance I ever hiked in one morning was 10 miles, and I suspect a third of that was cause we got lost... I rewarded myself with a huge slice of vlaai at the end of it 😂

Hence all the hiking my hills and very uneven terrain in Thailand.
That’s gonna continue as long as it isn’t icy outside
Getting all the muscles, especially tiny ones, around ankles and knees and also in the core working well will also improve your balance on ice.

Not that I go on walks when it's icy - it would be surefire way to get all tense... But it's easier to survive if needed.

This old man (71) is chuckling about the youth talking aches and pain. I still walk and hike with my knee brace and looking for a morning group work out. Remember that good circulation means good sex! Don't we all want that no matter our age?

My parents, older than you, wouldn't be chuckling but outright rolling their eyes. My dad is still running in the forest when his feet let him. When not, he walks or takes the bicycle. Or maybe rows.

And this is why my 1st quarter this year will be the chapter of ow! ow! ow! while I get myself back into active fitness 😂

I don't wish to be stuck to a chair when I'm 90 like my grandma 😳

Or like my MIL. 92yo and can barely get up from a chair - and only by using her arms too, her thighs are already too weak. It doesn't bode well for her future. Immobile people tend to wither fast.
Yep, it was my ex's grandpa that inspired me actually. He was 80 and he led that 10 mile walk around Limburg like it was nothing. Compared to my own grandpa who could barely walk by then and he was younger!

That, and stay away from alcohol as much as you can. The liver long term stores most of that caloric energy as fat right off the bat

Agree. I do not want that sort of future. I know some diseases can take away mobility but when and where possible, I want to be active. My New Year resolution?

My dad is almost 78 now. A lot of more fit than 2 of his daughters 🙈

He also was the one making us exercise when we were teens. Whether we wanted or not. Which meant, that when he finally stopped coaching us, I stopped exercising, because it was never something I did on my own. Except dancing.

Well, yes. It's like consuming sugar. And it's just extra calories you don't really even count!

Even if you use up all the energy, it matters. The difference between life expectancy of men vs women is in practise totally due to differences in alcohol intake and smoking.

Better than a a resolution, just doing it. Any muscle mass you have, will help even if you loose mobility. And thighs and core muscles are among the critical ones.
