I‘m sorry, you already lost me. What reaction to which photo? I know about Bettie Page, I’ve been a fan since I first saw her in the 70’s but I am not familiar with Lola Montez.

In the b&w photo thread lol. She was a dancer and courtesan infamous for being a whip wielding socialite and mistress to the king of Bavaria. She's also the subject of one of my favorite songs.

Oh! The tiny waisted chick! Got it!

True -- but me, energized by additives??? Not good. Not good at all. lol I have a low tolerance for all things sugar
I tolerate a lot a more sugar than any artificial additives (which make me feel very weird and bad). But not too much sugar either.

But Koolaid? Anyone I know who buys it, uses it for dyeing thread. It doesn't really seem like something to consume...

I mean, when I was a child with an unrefined palate, it just served as a vehicle to get more sugar. Healthy choices and all.

When I was a child, we only had lemonade on special occasions. Although ob my birthday it was the season for homemade (non-alcoholic) mead, and nobody was interested in lemonades. And never, ever with proper meals! (The McDonald's came to my home town when I was 11 or something, and it wasn't somewhere we went even monthly.)

Juice meant homemade berry juice or bought orange/apple juice. Berry juice was the standard when adults drank coffee, or most occasions you'd think of lemonade. Except with meals it was most likely milk for kids.

I have the same problem with artificial sweetners.
I used to work at a nutrition research company. It is disheartening how many historical “healthy alternatives” were far more harmful to the human body then the natural thing (like sugar, dairy, etc.) they were “fixing”. The worst part, it took decades before the data was available to show unequivocally how unhealthy that stuff is.

I believe the feeling they give me.

Better just limit the amount of sweet things we eat so much that it's ok to just use sugar.
