What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

I haven’t been around much. Life’s really weird sometimes. I recently learned I have some allergies and one of those allergies is soybean. Which I love. Like all the soy products are my favorite: tofu, natto, miso, etc. It has taken me some time but I’ve found some replacements and pictured below is a veggie pancake with a soy-free miso soup. It doesn’t taste exactly the same but it hits the spot. :)

It’s good to have you back here and that looks yummy!

Dinner was waiting after getting back from daughters singing lesson:
Christmas ham with horseradish creme and a salad made with red cabbage, green apple, roasted hazelnuts and a mustard vinaigrette.

Ham here as well. I hate ham, especially the smell when it’s baked, but J loves it, so here we are. It’s been hammy here for hours.

Tomorrow will be veggie pizza time, and that I’m very much looking forward to.

Like you, I'm no ham fan: give me sausage or bacon.😋

I’m generally anti pork unless it’s something spicy, like ‘nduja or pepperoni. The spices hide the porky flavor. I’ll eat it just fine if there’s no other option, ie. if I’m visiting and they’re serving it or if J really wants pork. It’s very rare I cook with pork and the less often I eat it, the less I like it.

In other cooking related news, I baked an orange cake. Can’t wait to try it tomorrow. The oven has gotten a lot of action today!

@seela is going to laugh…

Cod cooked in a sauce made of coconut milk, cream, saffron dissolved in a dash of cognac, sambal oelek and chopped red bellpepper, served with rice. View attachment 2194273
Well 'tis the saffron season, after all. :) It sounds yum!

I'm making flatbreads with yesterdays leftover mashed potatoes and barley. Lunch was pierogi ruskie with smetana. Dinner will be chana dal with rice, masala egg fry and rhubarb chutney.

Wait, are you eating knäckebröd with a knife and fork?

No, it’s just tge forkliftdevice I used to assemble the thing. I thought I’d need them to eat the rest when it all crumbled but I managed without. Not Nobel dinner worthy table manners but it was just Miss A and I and we were more hungry wolfs than ladies at that point.

Okay, I thought you had gone insane or something, eating knäckebröd like that. 😁

A roast goose dinner I had handed to me last week. I will be making my own version this Christmas.

I licked the plate clean!! 🥰

Oooh, yum!

We call it mush or porridge for breakfast

Blueberries (frozen from summer), apples, banana and other fruit as available.

Water, peanut butter and about a cup of granola. It’s super carby, but great power food if you are working outside.

I usually only eat two meals a day so as a heavy breakfast by late morning this is a good one.
