Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

Rescues are a lovely breed.

All my cats are rescues, with different backgrounds. The one that was catched as an adult feral is the most cuddling one, he DEMANDS hugs and cuddles. Lots of them. Even though he wouldn't let anyone close in the beginning, and he still panics if I try to pick him up. He sleeps with me.
Met a rescue border collie yesterday. Poor thing is very scared, particularly of males. She has loving owners now.

BrendaD laughed because I think she knows just what its like to have a doggie drag her around..LOL
That is correct! Then a friend pointed out she never puts her dog on a leash, so I tried it. Both my doggo and I prefer that. I now ride my bike, and she runs next to me with no leash at all. She is very good and will even stop chasing an animal instantly if I call to her. She’s a good girl! Not a monster at all!

No dog is a Monster unless they have been trained that way or someone has misused their love.. In my mind... Its never a dog problem.. Its an owner problem

I totally agree. My baby was so beaten down when I got her, she literally peed on the floor when I called her to her food dish where I had put snacks. She just cowered and peed herself!! What kind of a sick piece of shit of a human does that to a dog??? Honestly, she might still do it. I just never call her to her dog dish and she goes when she wants.

it infuriates me when I think what someone must have done to her.

Easy to guess that she has learned calling her = something bad will happen

I used to have an amstaff, she was one of the most well behaved dogs. ❤️

And to her food dish! Why would they punish her by calling her to her food? Calling her elsewhere was fine. But call her around her food dish and she cowers and pees. I last tried about a year ago, and she still had the same reaction. And it’s only been in the last 6 months that she started giving me kisses. My poor baby!!

Mmmm. I had a shepherd rottie mix that we rescued when she was 7 months old. A woman spotted her in a bad part of the city and kids were throwing cans and bottles at her 🤬. She stopped the car and took the dog and brought her to a local shelter. This dog was so full of fucking love, I swear she fell from heaven. She passed away in 2013 and I still would like to break some kneecaps when I think about it

Someone broke her love and trust.. It takes time for sure.. But she will come around to your love and take you fully into her heart.. She already has to some degree it sounds.. love and time heal wounds..

My boy was a rescue dogo he was used in dog fights and as a guard dog. I know the cop who eventually found him in a drug raid. He was savage I mean foam at the mouth if you looked at him savage.(he most likely should have been put down)
Now 7years on he is a marshmallow the softest dog imaginable. He watches my grandbabies and plays horsey for them.
Don't ever give up on trying to encourage her to food, try different methods sit on the floor pat the ground, have her favourite toy close. Even the process of cuddling her before you encourage her to eat will help.
