If you got one near you, the Habitat for Humanity stores are always looking for donations of almost any kind.
I like supporting groups that give a hand up instead of a handout.
Actually, I do, but I also have the church straight across the alley. They run a thrift arrangement to take in money to feed people and clothe them and even put them up sometimes. We've discussed my selling them this house when time comes. It's convenient, it's very close, and it seems to have its heart in the right place.
Took the neighbor's cat to the vet. Didn't tell the vet that it's the neighbor's cat. It's my Front Porch Cat. They'll have her patched up tomorrow, they said. We'll see, Wat said.
That's another great option.
Here when we put stuff out it's often collected by those that don't need it and sold to the consignment stores so most people are taking it directly where it is of the most use.
Heading for the birthday dinner in a bit, others have added to the overabundance of food and more invites have been extended so there will be extra bodies to help eat it. The sun is out, someone pitched the shade cover and we should have a wonderful few hours.
It's a bit cooler today because of cloud cover. We were to get rain all afternoon and eveniong, but it ain't happenin', so Round 2 is fixin' to tee off.
Got my wee foundation issue on the run. Had a re-purposing idea with some existing materials which solves the issue and makes one more thing we can check off the list.
It won't break my heart when time comes to move away from here. Kin folk ain't a'sayin' it, All-h is.
Happy Friday!!! Up a bit early. Didn't sleep all that well, but got 'er done, so to speak. We should hear about kitteh at the vet today. It's also take Mom to brunch day. Which reminds me, I have to move a load of laundry to the dryer.
Made great headway on the yard yesterday. It's headed toward Weedeater City.
Had a plumbing extension burst on my yesterday, easy enough fix but it didn't do my water bill any good. Thank Allah there was no structural damage. I'll pressurize it to test a little later.
Thanks be to All-h that all the fuck-ups here were wood related, and that the wood to repair them was all front-n-center. That made life so much easier. Even at that, I will have a chunk to pay on the box store card next month. Funny how that works.
Funny thing is, for the size of this house, when there are 2 or more people in it, I get to feeling cramped. It's just not a very good layout. I've been in smaller houses that felt a bit more spacious.
After I check the plumbing repair I'm heading out for my weekly debrief on what the Feds have been up to. Based on what I've been able to glean from the news they've had a busy week.
The Semi-Consolidated Leakage Thread. It was the original title of the original thread. KInd of like The Isolated Blurt Thread and yet not at all like it.
Happy Saturday!!! Blew town late yesterday afternoon for a bit of anviling. The show was disappointing from an attendance standpoint. A whopping 26 cars. Give them credit, one was from AK and one from MI and one from WI. Wat should have hauled the local anvil but he couldn't be arsed. I'll tell my anvil about it later.
Ate a late lunch so there will be no supper tonight. Likely just ice cream.
Saw one of the guys from TX who we went to see last year for the chassis and running gear. Met a couple of folks from around the area and another couple from out of town. Also met one of the guys from the anvil website. It was worth the trip, but so not worth the week, which is what some of them did.
Wat has managed to make do with 8 cylinders for many years now . . . .
I have a spare 8 such that I can replace the 2 sixes that I own, and another in case I get another 6, which ain't likely. Those are anvils. The trucks have a 6 and an 8. The 8 gets better mileage, so go figure. It's also half again bigger. And there are two 2 cylinders which cannot be replaced by anything.
Survived the birthdays, the chatterbox intern, the little human who says she's a better intern, the minions complaining about the interns and all the other stuff life threw my way last week and today, I took my reward. Fishing this morning, a public debate, a rum run this afternoon and then dinner out at my favourite burger place where they make old style milkshakes. Now my feet are up, I have shows that shall be ignored because my new book arrived yesterday. Life is good.
The landlady fell in love with a 1941 120 coupe from down south a ways. Not for sale. Guy's owned it for 20 years anyway. But he chatted with her and let her sit in it, and she really dug it. It's very 30s in a 41 skin and phased out after WW2. Relatively speaking, they're not expensive, and Wat is learning to "get a bit more" out of that engine which also lurks in the Driver Anvil. So, maybe.
They're cool, but Wat's coupes are more practical.
As is typical sometimes, pics have decided not to send tonight. Motherfucker!!!
Happy Sunday!!! Slept okay, but was up and down a bit more than usual. It's cool outside thatnks to the rain we had Friday night and yesterday, so the windows are open and the a/c is off. The lights bill will be so happy.
One of the household items for sale online has drawn a bit of interest. Told her we could meet today and to message me when she was up and running. She said she's an early riser. I'm up and no word from her. Figures.
There's a new Major Collector mobile for sale - saw the ad yesterday. They're asking kinda close to $100K for it, saying that it's the Newest Restoration of the "17 known". Yeah, okay. Wat wagers that there may not be 17 people who give much of a fuck alive to care any more. Even at that, it doesn't have fender skirts.
