But…..but…..but…. ACNE!? Weight gain!? MOOD SWINGS?!?

How could they be expected to continue? How could anyone push through the sort of awful side effects that are basically like, well….. any random tuesday for a woman

Attempts have been made, but drug trials ended when the men involved dropped out because the side effects (acne, weight gain, mood swings) were too much.

This fact has always pissed me off. I've read studies done on this topic for decades and the results are ALWAYS the same. Men (as a group and as evidenced by failure to comply with a medication regimen through the course of a study) will not tolerate even a small amount of inconvenience/adverse side effects in order to prevent an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy in their partner. The stakes just aren't there for them emotionally/intellectually. They can walk away from the responsibilities of parenthood when women cannot. It's not fair, but it is the way it is apparently and in my opinion that is fucked up.

Agreed. There are a shit ton of people here (not even counting the alts) and my bandwidth for such things has really decreased in the last 3 years. Not having been here much recently means there are so many nics I don't know at all, so I find I mostly pass over posts from people I have not interacted with in the past. is that shallow of me?
