A quote from Putin (shows what an unstable cvnt he is)

True, Biden said Putin was going to attck Ukraine...and then did absolutely nothing to prevent it.

ASI9DE, of course, from supplying the Ukrainians with all the dope he had on the Russians at his disposal. If he HAD bombed Russia preemptively you WOULD have criticized THAT as well!

I thnk we can find something in between, no? Russia was building up forces since last March, after all. How many Javelins and Stings could Biden have sent in that time?

Speaking of which:

This would actually be a really good thread if someone started it.
"Over the many years, What miscalculations on the US part added to this crisis? And what good decisions on US's part averted the crisis?"

Because it's no longer a matter of "is it Putin's or America's fault".
It's no brainer that Putin is a war criminal.

And it's no longer a matter of "did America meddle into Ukraine or not" either.
We all know that they did it for years.
-Some would say because knowing USSR's bloody history, they wanted to keep it in check.
-Others would say that they don't give two fucks about Eastern Europe, they just wanted to thwart geopolitical competition (I subscribe to that).
-Others go even further and say that they deliberately stir wars to get money from arms sale (I think this is a bit much)

"We're taking your shit for your own self interest, you are just too stupid to realize it."

Yea....that's about right.
No one takes shit from you. You just sling it out every day. Very similar to Putin and Trump, I'd say.

With everything televised,
it's literally like watching Suzanne Collin's ""The Hunger Games."

But I don't get a sense that media and people are getting off over the disaster porn and gooddie-two shoes posturing. Like they did with Syria.

People are genuinely spooked out.

Putin is just saying the same anodyne things about this exhibition that he would be expected to say if it opened in peacetime.
er, saying one thing while behaving in exactly the same way he claimed to hate?

LOL.... they take quite a bit actually and desperate to take much more and charge me rent on anything I might have left.

Stay perma-triggered about Trump.

I've seen old Soviet-era movies about WWII -- they always refer to the enemy as "the Fascists," not as "the Germans." That was Commie thinking -- all conflicts were essentially ideological. The Berlin Wall was an "anti-Fascist rampart." And apparently the habit of thinking of the war in those terms has lingered.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

They've added "racist" and "white nationalist" to the list of things deemed "not progressive".

But yea.
But they're in a bit of a bind these days, what with Putin declaring he's fighting fascism and Nazis in Ukraine. Yet the Left says it's against Putin and for Ukraine. How do they square this circle?

Remember, Trump called this guy "a savvy genius" and "smart." What does THAT say about Trump?
Yeah, but let's get it right, he was as referring wryly to the difficult situation Putin had put the West in with his plan beginning with the unopposed (by the West) capture of the eastern Ukraine separatist republics and the 2014 capture of Crimea and then using them both to begin the final invasion of Ukraine. You have to admit, Putin did read our book accurately and despite heavy losses in blood and treasure could succeed in the end. Why? Because we showed weakness at the beginning which emboldened Putin to act. he correctly assessed our reluctance to use NATO force in the face of his nuclear capability. So, despite your hallucinations and TDS, Trump was not praising Putin or his actions.

Tough times for the modern comrade.

How about the fact that none of the US intel agencies saw coming:

* The collapse of the USSR
* The 911 attacks
* That Saddam didn't have any WMD to speak of

That Putin is danerous to his domestic rivals is true, but just as many Clinton foes have turned up dead, too. Putin IS smart, or at least crafty. That doesn't mean he's moral.
The list is even longer. They didn't see the Iranian revolution coming, the Indian nuclear tests, The Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, The Yom Kippur War, or the Tet Offensive either.

But he can't be a fascist, he says he's getting rid of fascists in Ukraine. And we all know that if you say you're anti-fascist, we must take you at your word.
I was listening to this guy who's originally from Eastern Europe,
and he said that Putin's lingo (get rid of 'neo-nazis, fascists') was the one used by Stalin, when he ethnically cleansed (through displacement) populations.

And that (as many said) Putin's plan is typical old Soviet style:
move out chunks of populations and replace them with Ethnic Russians.
Low theshold of getting rid of any 'neo-nazis' (aka anyone who opposes the colonization).

And with reference to the fire started at the nuclear facilities,
he said that it was accidental, and nor is the danger as high as people think. It takes a lot to crack the fail-proof mechanisms of such facilities.
He said that Russians are capturing these facilities not with warhead arsenal in mind
but to cut energy supplies to Ukrainian laypeople, thus either drive them out or make them capitulate.

Apparently neither did many Eastern Europeans.

While some continued to be as suspicious as LupusDei is of Russians,
the guy said that many thought that the old Soviet Empire is done with. They are pinching themselves now,
especially given Putin's current antequated Soviet aggressive lingo

How patient and cunningly planning and waiting Putin was...
just like the Chinese.

Well, those board Trumpettes who are so free to call others communists do realize, I'm sure, that Donald Trump's old buddy and master, Vladimir Putin, is one of the few actual, bonified communists still kicking around.

btw

I've been watching several Indian massmedia on youtube
and it's absolutely disgusting how they're trying to absolve Putin of any responsibility re civilians' deaths and displacements. As if Putin had no choice, because Americans.
They even said that Americans want the war to keep going, cause arms sales and stocks profits (which are now going through the roof), and poor Putin is backed into a corner.

Many laypeople initially fell for Putin's explanations re why he's attacking
but not like that .

Here's the problem with that eplanation: Russia is bleeding population now. It's going to have 20-30% fewer people in it in 30 years than it does now. It doesn't need any more lebensraum. Russian birth rates are in the toilet (as are Ukrainian birth rates).

I think Putin is sending a different message with the nuclear facilities: Mess with me, and I'll make Chernobyl look like a dental x-ray.

By pointing out that the Ukrainian government is in no sense Fascist or Nazi.
