Congress Unanimously passes bill.... Capitol Police now have authority

All theater for people like you. The Capitol Police can now request national guard help, but it's still the President and Pentagon who will decide,

great stuff

of course the Capitol police were unprepared, it's been centuries since the last insurrection and i don't suppose they expected 'patriotic, law-abiding republicans' to behave as disgustingly as they did that day.

what's more interesting (to me) is this little snippet:

"Capitol Police officers and their law enforcement partners were left alone to defend the Capitol and our democracy itself from violent insurrectionists, while the Chief of the Capitol Police was delayed in obtaining approval to request help from the National Guard," the bill's other co-author, Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, said Monday in a statement.

Gen. William Walker, commander of the Washington, D.C., National Guard, testified in March that he did not need authorization from Pentagon leaders before deploying troops in response to protests at the Capitol, but that changed in the days leading up to Jan. 6, CNN reported.

He said, per CNN, that a Jan. 5 memo stated that he was required to seek approval from the Secretary of the Army and Defense before authorizing a troop deployment to respond to a civil disturbance
.
just the day before the attempted coup, rules were changed and ultimately obstructed a cohesive, timely response to the dangers that resulted in deaths and injuries of public and forces alike. WHY were they changed JUST the day before, and WHO instigated that change from the normal? any guesses? i think a lot of us have solid suspicions, which may well be confirmed by the bi-partisan fact-finding commission.

Yes, this simply was a Trump-instigated coup attempt that was supported by his minions. Lock them all up.

It’s still centuries since the last so-called insurrection, 1/6 was not an insurrection.

There is no bipartisan commission, strictly a partisan sham looking to influence 2022 elections. Having a couple of RINOs on a commission doesn’t make it bipartisan.

Hmmm...I wonder how that last minute change happened? And who did it?

It makes it as good as it can be given the obstructionist approach of the GOT party(Grand Old Traitors).

1/6 was an insurrection, there is no need for a bipartisan commission for it have been an insurrection. There isn't even a sound reason why anything should be bipartisan right now.

Maybe you could show me one individual charged of insurrection by DOJ or FBI

Read her post #5

The DC Army National Guard comes under the direct command of the CiC and the auspices of the pentagon, specifically authority delegated to the Sec of Def to Sec of the Army.

Me thinks a particular General was overstepping his authority.

The change requiring the DC NG commander to seek approval of the SoA and SoD before deployment -- a thing not previously required.

That change was made recently not before 1/6. butters insinuates a preemptive sinister change prior to the 1/6 civil disturbance. I think that the recent change may be short lived. To surrender civilian control over military mobilization and deployment looks ok now but it comes with caveats.

Bounce, Congresscritters, bounce! :)

Congresscritters consist of two parties and a truly bipartisan committee allows both majority and minority leaders to appoint who they want to represent them, otherwise, it's a political sham. Just as the impeachments were, for the most part, strictly along party lines, all that means is the Despicables can do whatever they want, which is synonymous with tyranny not democracy.
