Manchin tells Dems to 'hit the pause button' on $3.5T spending plan

Ya can’t just play a game where the majority gets what they want all the time when they have the majority. Then we have run away legislation with no stops and everyone looses

Then when the minority becomes the majority, they undo everything and we are just playing tit for tat.

Just the way the man is drawn 60/40 is unrealistic

What do you mean?

and the Dems bend over backwards to give concessions but nothing is good enough.

Because we don't want most of what you guys are selling. If maybe there were some liberal options presented instead of everyone always being "my way or the highway bitch!" thing would be better for more folks.

That makes sitting there giving you guys the bird the easiest thing in the world to do.

It's also only moderately effective, and some (R)'s are figuring that out, thus the hard pushbacks cropping up in red states and the GOP at large. Legit polarization is starting to REALLY take place at the state level. Those folks political enough to be living in the "wrong" (for them) state and aware enough of it are about to have to make some hard life choices over the next few years.

I don't really see this as a bad thing, everyone needs a place to live.

I just hope there is enough "Live and let live" in the USA to navigate these turbulent waters without too much more violence than the low grad scuffles and riots we've had.

Please tell me about how the Dems twice under Trump flat out refused let a budget pass. Please tell me about how Dems were constantly down Trump's throat for his handling of the war. Which admittedly was a shit show since at least two years into Bush and nobody had the balls to do much. We knew at the end of the day it could have gone better than this, it could have gone worse but there were always going be dead people.

Nah...because we both know it goes both ways.

Trying to pretend either party is innocent of antagonistic partisan fuckery is just silly.

That is how it's supposed to work.

No, that's BROKEN and dysfunctional.

Democracy has to have some common goals and values to work effectively.

Our nation doesn't have common goals and values anymore.

Democrats and a handful of greenies want to Venezuela the USA, except with open borders and institutionalized racism.

Republicans, moderate/independents, liberals and libertarians do not.

This is causing dysfunction at the federal level and polarization of the states.

Exactly what percent of America is represented by Pub 40 or even Pub 50?
Our Supreme Court was seated by a minority representation
End the Filibuster
Seat the 13

You do actual court packing and turn SCOTUS into an SJW activist branch??

That would be pretty reckless.

The Pubs STOLE two!

There ain’t no rules

Yet, Dems keep following rules

Manchin hopes for bipartisan and has managed NONE

Not reckless, merely an overdue correction to years of packing the federal bench with Federalist Society whackos.

No. That's one upmanship. Every four to years one party undos what the other party did. If you can't come to a consensus, it's probably not a good idea.

It started with Gringrich and has continued with every single Republican leader since then. We can't even get infrastructure that's falling apart fixed and for some reason we're still subsidizing outdated energy and tech.....it's easy when media can just make up shit to demonize the political opposition.

If you truly are a newbie and not another alt, then you probably don't realize that the cretin you are quoting and responding to is a self-admitted "borderline sociopath".

Do yourself a favor and ignore the demented idiot, or do what most of us do, and mercilessly ridicule him.

Cheers.

The common goal of any democracy is to make the state do what the people want it to do.

And if the people don't agree on some basic common values and institutions, the democracy becomes dysfunctional.

Dysfunctional is very clearly where the USA's democracy is currently at. :D

You could be starving too!!!! So much equity!!! :D

And that's exactly what they are pushing, read the platform.

Not reckless, merely an overdue correction to years of packing the federal bench with Federalist Society whackos.

No packing happened.

Not trying to undermine the USA and turn it into the mass murdering totalitarian shit hole of your dreams doesn't make them whackos. ;)

What do you mean?

Sorry the way the map is drawn getting 60/40 is all but impossible. The only way it happens is if one side screws up so bad that a few of the states that almost always go one way or the other switch it up. It also doesn't help that since the right has done a fantastic job of convincing people that it goes both ways far too often we just swap out as many as possible.

This is false however. A majority of Americans do health care for everybody and safe legal abortions. That's reason why even on the right nobody really runs on I'll end abortion by legislature. Its always trying to slip in the back door with the SCOTUS.

You can't get shit done in a country where one side can refuse to play. Whenever polls are done on the ISSUES most Americans want much of what we're offering. We Europe with its longer life spans, more upward mobility. If we're not talking specifically about guns they are much freer than we are.

Its hard to live and left live when one party and philosophy are more interested in owning libs than they are in improving the lives of their familes. It does not go both ways and thats why you couldn't instantly pull up the last time Dems just shut down the a Republican president's budget. You can't name when the last time was that they just flat refused to play ball.

You look at the deficit that Obama cut by 2/3 and then claim that both sides do the same amount of over spending.

In it's original usage Filibuster, referred to someone Who:

1. Gathered a group of mercenaries.

2. hired his gang out to a Central American would be strong man.

And then

3. Once he had the coups and took control of the whole government,

4. He'd then hang the Strongman for Corruption and take over the Country!

Declaring himself, "Dear Leader, Emporor of ... ... ..."

I always think of this when I see Mitch.:)

^^^^^^
If I'm not mistaken the last senate infrastructure bill was sent over on a flying carpet to the house and Pelosi refused to pass the house version unless the senate co-sponsored congruently a $3.5 trillion people's infrastructure bill. Blame Adolf Pelosi for that fuck-up!

Like you're doing right now? We're not subsidizing outdated energy. We don't have the technology to be carbon free. We need some amount of fossil fuels until we the technology to be free of fossil fuels.

So why subsidize the Proven Technology when we need to shift to better tech? Is it like Big Oil is bleeding red ink? Big Oil will take care of itself. Time to shift our priorities.

Not unless a seat is stolen when it shouldn't be. Which, yes, means they should add to the court now at least for a time to teach the Republicans a lesson in democracy. There's no law on how many are on the court. It could go down again when the Republicans find humanity and fairness somewhere.

Once you expand the court to get favorable rulings, the court becomes a political tool which will be expanded and contracted by whoever is in power.

The priorities are shifting because the technology is becoming more cost friendly. We were providing subsidies for solar companies under Obama and many went belly up. We're getting there. We're finally seeing fully electric cars. Once a truck with the same pulling power as a v-8 is on the market, I will buy one. Well, maybe I'll wait a bit until they work the bugs out. I still don't trust the turbo trucks. I know I can trust the aspirated V-8

You have 2 options, close the filibuster by moving to cloture, if you can't get 60 votes then get back to work and change, amend, add till you get consensus.

Move to use the nuclear option

Today's congress is poisoned with partisan hatred, tough to pass anything in this environment.

This is false however. A majority of Americans do health care for everybody and safe legal abortions. That's reason why even on the right nobody really runs on I'll end abortion by legislature. Its always trying to slip in the back door with the SCOTUS.

Many feel abortion should be legislated at the state level. Big government is not the all or nothing answer. States rights.

America is just as divided as congress IMHO Conservatives are against an intrusive federal government.

There are strong ideological differences between parties, Gun Control, UHC, Abortion and a whole assortment of others which neither side will budge on. Pelosi has created such a toxic environment in the house: **2 partisan impeachments ** Pushing HR-1 ( zero republican support ) Subpoenaing congressional correspondence 1/6

You look at the deficit that Obama cut by 2/3 and then claim that both sides do the same amount of over spending.

Perhaps you should do a little more research on spending habits. Perhaps start with budget sequestration. Take a look at Trumps first budget where Trump wanted to increase military spending and the chuckster stood in the way till he got an additional 160 billion tacked on.

Why does everybody immediately go to a worst case scenario when its not particularly likely to happen. I'm not concerned that if the Republicans some how get 60 votes and take the house they'll undo everything that happened over how many years the Dems get to hold the White House. I think it will be like Obamacare where once they got into office they realized that taking it away would be political suicide. If we raise the minimum wage and people start seeing their lives get better there is no chance the Republicans are try to go back.

Just glad Manchin said NO to the $3.5 trillion Frankenstein. Dems are going to focus on the bipartisan plan or risk getting nothing.
