Fox "news" Cannot Be Trusted

The facts don't lie, Fox News does.

The ad, with ominous music playing in the background, begins with a clip of Carlson insisting that "there's no evidence that white supremacists were responsible for what happened on January 6, that's a lie." Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn, who is Black, then disputes Carlson's claim while recounting that he was personally subjected to racial slurs from the violent mob who speculated that he had voted for President Joe Biden.

"There was a large number of people in that crowd that were racists," Dunn, who was on duty during the breach, told ABC. "They said 'hey [expletive] voted for Joe Biden, guys. Hey, everybody this [expletive] voted for Joe Biden.' They said you [expletive]. Everybody, everybody joined in with them."

The ad then shows a second clip of Carlson, with the host saying "contrary to what you've been hearing, there's also no evidence that this was a 'armed insurrection.'" A clip of Dunn plays in response, with the officer describing some of the rioters wearing body armor, tactical gear and bullet proof vests while carrying firearms.

"I'm like, 'I'm going to get shot, they want to take me out,'" recounted Dunn. "They were terrorists. They tried to disrupt this country's democracy. That was their goal. And you know what, y'all failed."

Court documents and other records show that there is evidence that some of those involved in the riots were associated with white supremacist groups, although not all of the rioters had ties to the groups. There is also evidence that some of the rioters were armed, contrary to Carlson's assertion that the violent uprising was not an "armed insurrection."

It is amazing some folks listen to Fox and believe it...maybe a nice huge lawsuit settlement will sink in for them that Fox is and has always been the fake news network.

It's also important to remember that all of those nighttime shows on the "news" channels are opinion shows that classify themselves as entertainers. There is no news delivered on them.

Seth Meyers has discovered why viewers and advertisers are fleeing Fox News, it's because they're wasting their time making up conspiracies and lies about cartoons.

Almost daily, Fox News has started to search for examples of people complaining about outdated imagery or TV shows that in the modern era would be seen as racist without any real context or explanation.

The first started off with the claim that "The Muppets" had been canceled. It hasn't. It is still available on streaming with Disney+. But on some of the shows that have outdated topics, Disney has put a disclaimer explaining it. Fox took the disclaimer to the extreme declaring that the whole show had somehow been banned by Democrats.

Then there was the shocking saga of Mr. Potato Head, which Hasbro explained they were changing to a Potato Family, presumably to sell more items. While conservatives claim to be "pro-family," Fox News turned that into a conspiracy about gender identity in toys made of vegetables that have no gender. Somehow that got blamed on liberals

The Dr. Seuss fiasco was a whole new level of anger. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) blamed Democrats for banning the beloved children's author. Democrats had no-decision in the matter, as it was his estate who decided not to publish the six books anymore.

Ironically, each example of "cancel culture" Fox News has compiled about in recent weeks were actually examples of corporate decisions, which means it was about the free markets they once espoused.

Among total viewers, CNN finished first in prime, with 2.7 million viewers—up 128% from January one year ago. MSNBC was a close second with 2.6 million viewers—up 66%, and Fox News was third with 2.54 million viewers—down 13%.

In the key demo, CNN was first with 785,000 viewers (up 146%), followed by MSNBC (486,000 viewers—up 70%) and Fox News (423,000 viewers—down 10%).

And yet, for the first time in 20 years, MSNBC in January outperformed Fox News in both dayside (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET) and prime time (8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET) ratings.

Tucker Carlson compares Asian-American senator to the KKK in unhinged rant

Earlier in the week, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), frustrated at the relative lack of Asian-Americans in senior positions in the Biden administration, threatened to vote down non-diverse nominees until she got an assurance of better representation in the executive branch. Ultimately, President Joe Biden promised her he would address the problem, and she dropped her objection.

But to Fox News' Tucker Carlson — who perpetually sees any attempt to center people of color as an attack on America — this whole episode was something far more sinister. It was, in his view, a plot to oppress white people, as evil as the white supremacist terrorism of the Ku Klux Klan.

When you read enough of this nonsense and you remember some people keep Fox News on all day long, it starts to make sense why there's so much racism and resentment still out there.

Dominion Voting Systems, a voting technology company that was the target of baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the right-wing channel Fox News on Friday.

The company alleged that the network "recklessly disregarded the truth" and participated in a disinformation campaign against it because "the lies were good for Fox's business."

In the immediate aftermath of the 2020 election, then-President Donald Trump falsely asserted that the election had been rigged against him. His allies promoted outlandish conspiracy theories about Dominion to support Trump's false claims.

"Fox took a small flame" of disinformation and "turned it into a forest fire," Dominion said in its lawsuit.

"The truth matters. Lies have consequences," Dominion's lawsuit added. "Fox sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process. If this case does not rise to the level of defamation by a broadcaster, then nothing does."

Dominion said that as a result of Fox's "orchestrated defamatory campaign" it had suffered "enormous and irreparable economic harm" and that its employees had been subject to death threats.

“What Fox did here was not reporting. It was not a political debate,” Shackelford said. “The First Amendment guarantees a free press, not a consequence free press. The Constitution does not give publishers license to defame.”

Dominion lawyer Tom Clare also cited an argument that right-wing lawyer Sidney Powell made this week to a judge, in which she maintained that “no reasonable person” would have believed her comments about an international conspiracy to steal the election from Trump were “statements of fact.”

“That argument is ridiculous on so many levels,” Clare said, noting Fox repeatedly had Powell on air. In one appearance, she “looked straight into that Fox News camera and told Lou Dobbs, ‘You would have to be a damn fool and abjectly stupid not to see what happened here,'" Clare said.

"Fox kept spouting these lies about Dominion... on their airwaves, even while they were being told the truth over and over again," Stephen Shackelford, attorney for Dominion Voting Systems and partner at Susman Godfrey LLP, told CNN's Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" on Sunday.

He added that Dominion sent Fox multiple emails, letters and retraction demands regarding its claims that Dominion altered votes. He also said bipartisan officials told the network that the claims against it were false and that the company's machines worked properly.

John Boehner calls out the propaganda-whores over at Fox "news" Channel

Boehner, in large part, blamed "right-wing propaganda outlets" like Fox News, Breitbart, conservative radio hosts, the Drudge Report and a growing number of YouTube conspiracy theorists accusing Obama of being a "communist," a "secret Muslim" and a "Manchurian candidate planning to betray America."

Boehner specifically called out Fox News host Sean Hannity and former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who was forced to resign in 2016 amid sexual harassment allegations from nearly two dozen women.

Murdoch did not seem to believe the "kooky conspiracy theories that started to take over his network," but he "didn't have a problem with them if they helped ratings," Boehner recalled.

Ailes, however, went deep down the rabbit hole following Obama's election, pushing "bullshit" conspiracy theories about the Benghazi attack and "elaborate plots by which George Soros and the Clintons and Obama (and whoever else came to mind) were trying to destroy him."

Boehner recalled a conversation in which Ailes claimed the Obama White House was "monitoring" him and revealed that he had built a "safe room" so he could not be spied on.

"There was a lot of conspiratorial talk. It was like he'd been reading whacked-out spy novels all weekend," Boehner wrote. "And it was clear that he believed all of this crazy stuff. I walked out of that meeting in a daze. I just didn't believe the entire federal government was so terrified of Roger Ailes that they'd break about a dozen laws to bring him down. I thought I could get him to control the crazies, and instead I found myself talking to the president of the club."

"Sean Hannity was the worst," Boehner wrote, adding that he became so incensed at the criticism that he called up the host and "called him a nut."

Fox News Tried Messing With Jen Psaki Again. It Went Badly for Them.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tore apart another gotcha question by a reporter from a certain propaganda network on Tuesday, this time regarding Major League Baseball’s decision to relocate its annual All-Star Game away from Atlanta, Georgia amid the fallout from the state GOP’s new Jim Crow voting restrictions.

“Is the White House concerned that Major League Baseball is moving the All-Star Game to Colorado where voting regulations are very similar to Georgia?” asked Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy.

Psaki succinctly put the kibosh on him:

Well, let me just refute the first point you made. First, let me say, um, on Colorado: Colorado allows you to register on Election Day. Colorado has voting by mail where they send to 100 percent of people in the state who are eligible applications to vote by mail – 94 percent of people in Colorado voted by mail in the 2020 election. And they also allow for a range of materials to provide even if they vote on Election Day with a limited number of people to vote on Election Day.

I think it is important to remember the context here. The Georgia legislation is built on a lie. There was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Georgia’s top Republican election officials have acknowledged that repeatedly in interviews. And what there was, however, was record-setting turn out especially by voters of color. So, instead, what we are seeing here is that politicians who didn’t like the outcome here. They are not changing their policies to win more votes. They are changing the rules to exclude more voters, and we certainly see the circumstances are different. But ultimately, let me add one more thing. It is up to Major League Baseball to determine where they are holding their All-Star Game.

Jen was lying about the law.

It is not a vehicle that excludes anyone from voting that is entitled to vote legally.

In fact, it expanded voting for all of the citizens of Georgia while making it harder to vote illegally.

  • Colorado mails ballots to every registered voter and consequently has the highest voter turnout in the nation at something like 85%.
  • That level of voting turnout in Georgia, with it's substantial African American population, would doom the Republican party forever.
  • That's why the Georgia Republicans specifically disallowed ballots being mailed out to everyone.
  • Your "illegal/legal" whining is simply a smokescreen for voter supression.

If Fox News wants to be a political tool, it should be treated as such and not given access meant for journalists

Fox was conceived by the late Roger Ailes as a political tool of the right masquerading as a news organization with its “fair and balanced” mantra.

But now the mask is off with Mr. Murdoch’s admission to investors. No more pretending. Loyal opposition is a purely political term. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “a minority party especially in a legislative body whose opposition to the party in power is constructive, responsible, and bounded by loyalty to fundamental interests and principles.”

There is nothing remotely journalistic about that definition. It’s political through and through.

So, why treat Fox News in any way like a journalistic organization? Why let Fox enjoy any of the journalistic prerogatives, like a place in the White House press room or a press seat on Air Force One? Would you invite a political organization that has opposed your rightful election, like, say, the Proud Boys, on your plane?

As if the other networks were not Democrat Party advocates...

Someone here is so partisan as to be completely clueless.

The libertarian who is not a republican sure seems to defend everything republican. I wonder why that is?

*chvckles*

Clueless perhaps?

You have said that in multiple threads but have yet to display the proof.

Show me cheerleading for Republicans in General and Trump in specificity...

If you cannot, then you are just a liar.

Clueless perhaps?

Or no balls to admit he is a Republican?

I have not yet seen him support one Libertarian principle that the party was built on

Damn it all to hell.

When confronted by people who can only think in terms of black and white,
what is an independent supposed to do when confronted by the lemming culture of the Left?
