This is Forty-Four

I got the results back from my latest COVID-19 test back. It was positive. I’m now among the group that has had it twice.

Fuck my life.

Again? So far I've been negative every time.

I wish you a speedy recovery, Drac! This year is not shaping up very well, is it? :(

Oh, Drac. That’s exceedingly shitty. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. Sending thoughts of strength and wellness to you, sweet friend.

I am very glad you’ve been having negative results. I don’t wish this on anyone. This could be one of the new strains that have cropped up.

At least I’m in a better housing situation. My old housemates were not pleasant to be around at times, and would have thrown a fit with me resting positive. Hell, they would have taken it as a personal attack on them. My current housemates are more worried about me. Also, they are willing to mask around me, instead of insisting that I wear one while they go without like my old housemates did.

This, too, shall pass. I’m more frustrated than anything.

Thank you, dear friend.

Ah, that's crap mate. Here's hoping you have a decent amount of antibodies to make this one a short one.

It was positive.

Do you work in an occupation that exposes you to the virus?

I work in the shipping warehouse of a manufacturing plant. Unfortunately, there have been several people before me who tested positive, and a few people I’ve seen not wearing masks properly, or at all.

I will say that this time around has been a lot easier. I didn’t lose my senses of smell or taste like I did last time. This time, however, I did have a day or two of intense body aches that made it feel like a building fell on me. Last time I spent the entire two weeks of my isolation feeling like I’d been hit by a truck.

I have two days left of my self isolation, and I’ve been using that time to do some crafting stuff. I’ve been sewing patches on a hoodie I’m modding. Also, I was only told to isolate for ten days this time instead of fourteen, and I’ve been in isolation since the 20th, not including going for my COVID test on Monday.

I also had a long phone call with the California COVID team today, trying to contact trace my infection. I’m pretty sure I got it at work, specifically in the locker room. Guys like to take their masks off when they change into and out of their uniforms.

I’m feeling a lot better today. I’m still trying to cough of a lung, but I’m doing a lot better.

I'm glad to hear that your symptoms have not been as bad this time around and that you are feeling a lot better now. It's so frustrating that people aren't being more careful. A person can change clothes without taking off a mask.

People at work can be stupid. The last full day I worked, there was a guy walking around the warehouse without a mask on at all, so I gave him a wide berth. We have also had a lot of positive tests in the building.

Today is my last day of isolation, so I can rejoin the world at large tomorrow. This is a good thing since the rest of the house has to isolate. My spouse is sick, complete with fever, and gets tested on Sunday. One of my housemates tested positive yesterday, and two more housemates are getting tested soon. I brought this shit home and I feel horrible about it.

I’m still coughing a lot, but that can hang on for a while. I’m also terrified of getting this a third time. I’ve already survived this shit twice, and it may be “three strikes and Drac’s out.” I have, probably, three months of immunity now, and I had nine months between infections. I just don’t want to take the chance of getting sick again. Twice was enough.

You have nothing to feel guilty for. Im a key worker now and i worry about bringing this home to bf who for a while was shielding to protect me because we didnt know my vulnerability levels. He made that sacrifice and now i work in a hospital and another org with an outbreak they are still isolating everyone from.

I dont really know how to respond to this shit. I know so many people who have had covid. Its scary and theres no real reassurance. Just hope that we get the vaccines out before a strain resistant to them develops because our shitty governments let this fester for “herd immunity”

There is so much anti-vaccine bullshit going on right now, it’s scary. Where I’m at we’re going off of a tiered system. Because of my job, I’m in tier 1C. We’re still processing tier 1A right now. And since I’ve already had it, there are people who think I should go to the back of the line. It’s so frustrating.

Twice. Damn, that sucks. I haven't heard of anyone getting it three times yet, so hopefully you are in the clear on that.

I hope so. Twice was bad enough. Hell, once was bad enough. This whole thing is a clusterfuck of epic proportions, and my state is reopening. It’s a mess. A huge mess.

I took a shower today, and it made me winded. I’m right back where I was months ago after my first dance with COVID. We’ll see how I am on Monday. That’s when I go back to work.

I really do hope this passes quickly, Drac, no one needs this drama right now, especially TWICE!

Thank you for the fur!!:kiss:

Well you still look hot, even when winded. Hope you get your breath back soon.

Thank you for that. I don’t feel hot. However, to quote my favorite movie, I no longer “feel like the floor of a taxi cab,” so there’s that.

You’re very welcome.

Last night was too much excitement. My spouse had a fever that spiked at 103.1, so it was off to the ER we went. Thanks to COVID protocols, I had to wait in the car while my spouse was being looked over. We got home around 3am, which wasn’t too bad; we left for the hospital at around midnight. The fever goes up and down like a damned yo-yo. If it gets up to 104, we go back to the ER.

As for me, I feel like the reset button has been hit on my recovery from my first bout of COVID. I get winded walking down the hall at home, the chest pains are back, and my mental health has taken a hit. I’m the one who brought this home, and at least two people have gotten sick because of it.

And to make things worse, I still see people not wearing masks, or wearing them incorrectly. Hell, I’m double masking when I go out now, and wearing gloves while running errands.

I’m tired, folks. Both physically and emotionally. I did get sleep last night, but it wasn’t enough. Hopefully going back to work tomorrow won’t kick my ass too badly.

Good luck back at work tomorrow, handsome. I hope that it doesn’t kick that sexy ass of yours.

I decided to get one more day of rest, just to be on the safe side. I’m still really run down, and that cough just will not go away.

You mentioned my ass. Was this what you meant? It is Moon Monday, after all.

Very, very nice, Drac, even feeling poorly, you take great pictures!!:heart:

We thought the fever was finally breaking yesterday, but it spiked back up to 103 early this morning. If it hits 105 it’s back to the ER.

To be honest, I’m nowhere near ready to go back. Just taking a shower this morning did me in, and my blood oxygen level has been hovering around the low to mid 90s. But I’ve missed too much work and I have to go back. Today is going to be a struggle.

I’m trying to get pics out on a regular basis again, so here’s this week’s Just the Tip Tuesday. I have a pair of pics today since I missed last week.

He was very cozy. Want to cuddle up with him? He’s very affectionate.

I made it through five hours today before I ran out of steam. I hoped that this time around, the recovery would be easier and wouldn’t take as long. So far, I’ve been wrong on both counts.

One big difference, though, was last time my second drive completely shut off. Now I’m getting horny at the drop of a hat, but neither of us is up for sex. It’s damned frustrating.
