What kind of coverage would you use on silicone? My paint is sliding off the kitchen cupboards in the places where silicone was used to seal cupboards.

You'll have to use an oil based primer or paint first as it's the only thing that will stick to silicone. Then you can go with latex paint.

My paint is water based.

Pretty sure latex is water based. Which is probably why it's not adhering. It's a PIA, but you would have better adhesion if you sand first and prime. It definitely complicated things when covering different paint types, but it can be done. Good luck.

Scrubbed with wire wool first. Fucking thing is a nightmare n YouTube suggests shellac but for some reason doesn't seem to be available in England.

Ugh... shellac! You could always just scrap off the silicone and reapply with a water based sealant that would take water based paint. I've been there...it sucks!

You are S.O.L. nothing sticks to silicon. That's sort of the point of silicon.

It'll peel.

Probably

Cut it out with a stanley knife and just put a bead of tiling grout in its place.

Were you just answering her query on where to get shellac, or have had success with that? Curious. I've never gotten anything to stick to silicone I learn that the hard way 33 years ago when I thought Silicon was better and I was building my guest house from basically scratch.
