A person's race doesn't matter to me. But can we at least establish a convention for describing it if we feel it's necessary. Bubba Wallace and Barack Obama are not black. They are bi-racial. Obama's father is black, so he chose to call himself black. Whatever. He's bi-racial. Wallace's father is white, so he chose to call himself black. Whatever. He's bi-racial. It's offensive to reject your heritage.

Botany Boy is at most 1/4 Korean yet he chooses to identify as a "Korean".

Shaun King is a white guy imagining himself to be a black man. So, he is just plain deranged.

This is all true. Barack Obama is a mixed-race US President. His mama was from lovely Kansas. Her skins was white. Actually pale. Fifty-percent of Barack's heritage is European (Irish, English, etc.). But Barack can call himself black or whatever he wants. It's how he identifies. He can ignore the other 50% but it exists anyway. Anyone can identify as "black" if that is how they feel. Anyone.

Depending on who I am with I identify as "Cuban-American" or "hispanic mix" but, like many people, there are multiple national origins in the sauce: Cuban, German, Dutch, Irish, Greek. But who fucking cares.

Are you all white?

Because ^this is some of the whitest white shit I’ve ever seen.

White people feeling entitled to control how People of Color can/should identify.

Maybe we should bring back the “one drop” rule? Or 1/4. Or 1/16?

Or maybe just STFU for once.

Who cares????

Evidently, the people who decide who gets loans, or who can rent an apartment, or whose offer is accepted on a home, or who gets a contract, or who gets a promotion, or who stars in a movie, or who gets into prestigious private organizations, or who their kids can associate with, or who their kids can marry, or who is a REAL American.

Being that you're of mixed heritage, you have probably never been privy to some of the truly racist conversations that happen in America. Being 100% Caucasian I have. It's one of the reasons I laugh when people say racism doesn't exist in the United States anymore. I imagine when a group of uniform POC get together they speak more freely about other ethnic groups as well. The main difference is the influence white people have due to their majority, their wealth, and the positions of power they hold in public and private institutions.

As for why Barrack, or Bubba, or Tiger, identify as black, I think mixed black/white, black/Asian, or black/Hispanic people identify as black because they learn early on that they are seen as black by white people.

Might I suggest you move to Mars, maybe start your own utopian culture. Can't tell you how many times I've been called a cracker, it's offensive, I can't walk by a box of ritz crackers without falling apart emotionally. Oh! by the way did I mention that I lost my dream job TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION!! I was more qualified by a long shot but not selected, it wasn't about my qualifications, it was about my skin color, the wrong color. I pulled myself up from my bootstraps and continued to march. I made lemonade out of lemons. So take your white privilege and stick it in your ass.

Anyone can identify as black and that is GOOD. There are times I identify as black because of my skin color. It's not wrong. Demonize it if you must. Those with hispanic blood (PR, Cuba, etc.) have felt the ire of assholes like you.

I'm biracial...

In the 70s and 80s

it was an employment checkbox

that helped employers not hire black people...

Too many shoulder chips.

;)

Lets talk about it from now on

I think that we can all see the clear advantage of talking about race every day of our lives. It helps to focus on every imaginable difference between people. In fact we should spend more time talking about short people VS tall people. Short lives matter! Then there are those who look like one race but are really a different race. That Lizzy Warren. Even though she has less native American genetics then the average European she actually is a native American trapped in a very white body. White Native Americans with virtually no native American genetics lives matter! Of course there are also fat people and thin people. Fat slobs matter! There are people that work hard and take care of themselves and there are soy-boys with video game thumbs that live in mommies basement. Wimpy soy-boys with video game thumbs lives matter!

I think the more we talk about the cherished differences the more we will all love to hate one another and the world will be a unified place with the common thread of hate running through our brains day in and day out. Yes! Let's just keep talking about race and anything that can be used to make people feel like victims so that they vote for social justice leftist!

Oh you poor thing.......:

So you didn't like it when your skin color negatively affected your life???

Hmmmmm.

God gets a kick out of the racial thing. He actually added that in at the last minute. :)

"Short Lives Matter" will make Luk's Pectus excavatum swell with pride.:D

No, that's just how I talk to privileged white people who act like victims.

If you post like a whiny child, you get treated like a whiny child.

It should be expected.

I see...

Does that make you a privileged white person?

Let's be fair here, Libsam. There were several Burger King franchises in your city, so you should've hustled your fry station resumé around the boonies a little bit more.
